A Little Rusty

We had a little taste of spring weather over the weekend and I’m not going to lie to you… it made me down right giddy. There was something about walking outside and not immediately wishing you were back indoors that put me in a marvelous mood for 3 days straight, so I threw on this little rust-colored lace up dress to celebrate.

I actually wore this exact outfit to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. It was unseasonably warm for November so I took advantage. I usually opt to wear these over the knee boots as an alternative to pants when it’s not absolutely freezing outside and the extra long over the knee socks added a little warmth as well!

I feel like we can see the light! The season of bare legs is upon us, guys! And while I love my layers I seriously can’t wait to shed them and start buying nothing but little sun dresses and sandals!

Hello 29!

I LOVE THIS DRESS. !!!! I feel like a sexy little mermaid when I put it on, haha. I’m going to Liberty Science Center After Dark tonight with my best friends to celebrate my birthday so I’m going to be wandering around the museum and doing the climbing wall and touch tunnel and whatnot… but if I wasn’t… I’d be wearing this out tonight. It’s the perfect little party dress! Oh yeah and if it wasn’t 20 degrees outside. What is that madness?! Holy winter. Perhaps I’ll get to wear it on New Years Eve?

So… I’m going to get a little deep with you guys for a hot minute. The past year of my life has been the most challenging thus far. There is no manual that comes with “adulting.” No one has the answers… no one can tell you what to do when all of the sudden your life turns to shit. I have yet to have the mental breakdown I think I deserve. I have somehow, surprisingly kept my cool this year. That being said, things have not gotten any easier, nor do they look like they are going to anytime soon. So I’m setting some goals for the next year to make sure I can continue to keep my cool. Screw Near Years Resolutions… what better time to start changing your life than now, am I right? My first priority is going to be..wait for it… MYSELF! I have a habit of putting other people and their needs before my own. Obviously this excludes my babies. Once you have kids you’re never quite a priority anymore, hah. But in all honesty, I have a hard time saying no. I’m always afraid people are going to be disappointed in me if I don’t come through for something. So my first change will just be to put myself first. Sometimes you have to recharge your own batteries before you can be there for anyone else. Next, I’m going to be healthier, in general. I enjoy working out… I don’t smoke.. I’m don’t drink all that much… eating healthy though? Not my thang. I try, but I mean… why deprive myself? BUT! I’ve already started cutting out my morning bagel (I literally had one every day on the way to work, no lie) and I gotta tell ya, it feels good! Anyway, I’m going to work harder, be more passionate, take myself more seriously and create a life for me and my girls we can all be proud of. Wish me luck guys. :] And cheers to YOU! A Classic Christmas

Tis the season to deck yourself with some holiday cheer! Between my birthday and holiday parties there is no shortage of events to dress up for. While deep down I reallyy want to strut my stuff in something sparkly and fun (like you’ll see later this week!) for a family Christmas party, a classic dress is key! My love, Kymalexis, and I will be showing you guys our preferred holiday style this year.

The blue dress I’m wearing is one of those things that you just never ever want to take off. It instantly makes you feel confident and sexy, but festive and chic! I really can’t resist buying dresses with lace these days. And this blue! I’m obsessed with the color. Jewel tones have my heart this year.

I don’t go to any hair stylist that runs the streets of Monmouth County, I go to Candace at West Ave Cutters in Atlantic Highlands. When I say she’s the best, I’m not saying it just so say it, I’m saying it because she deserves all the credit in the world for all the beautiful work she does! She’s the best kept secret. She created this updo on the spot when I told her I wanted something romantic but undone. I can’t wait to share more of her work! – Kymalexis

Whatever your traditions are at Christmas, it’s always nice to pick a stand-out outfit to mark the occasion. A bit of glitz and glam is a must no matter what your plans are. Sophisticated yet sexy, this suede dress is an instant classic that I have christmas-tized with red heels and a black clutch. I paired it with this beautiful yet fun leopard fur jacket. Meet My BFF

Allow me to introduce you all to my girlfraaaan, KymAlexis! A few weeks ago this little love bug asked me to take some pictures of her for her business, and we quickly realized homegirl was a natural in front of the camera. Back in the day there were some strict fashion rules, and in this generation rules were made to be broken. Wearing white was considered a post-Labor Day no-no, but then again, black was once only proper for mourning, ha! We all have 50% black in our closets and there’s no shame in my game. This south moon under sweater is hands down the most comfortable yet fashionable of the South Moon Under apparel that I own, and I’m about to go back and buy it in every color available!

You might see that my jeans are from Abercrombie and fitch and laugh because come on, we all shopped there in high school and never looked back; but i’m a 27 year old women who is 5’1 and 100 pounds so where in this world can i buy a pair of fitted pants and not have to hem them. Well here I am shopping and realizing that I can’t go wrong at this store for my height.

Chinese Laundry is one of my go-to for shoe shopping. They are comfortable and yet always at a reasonable price. The best part about this brand is if you bargain shop then you can head on over to marshals and find yourself saving some mula.

As a profesional organizer, my clients get to share their favorite stores and this is by far my favorite!!!! Pookie and Sebastians is a New York store that is basically a high end South Moon Under. You can’t walk out of this store without buying SOMETHING…. sorry not sorry…. worth every penny 😉

Post Thanksgiving Baggy Sweater

On Thanksgiving I will only wear a loose fitting dress or leggings… or casual eating pants, as I call them. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year for two reasons: it’s one of the few holidays left where my whole family still gets together, and the FOOD! I could live off of mashed sweet potatoes, for real. Unfortunately, for the few days following the gluttony, it’s hard to shove myself into tight fitting clothes. Enter: high waisted skirts and baggy sweaters.

These over the knee socks are my new jam. I bought three different pairs from Forever21 and I can’t stop wearing them. I bought a black pair to wear with my taupe Chinese Laundry OTK boots, and this pair, and a deep burgundy color. I love the way they peek out over the top of these boots. So cute! I had another special guest with me on this shoot. I can’t get enough of my little ham!

Clinging to Summer

If you’re like me, you’re not ready to part ways with your favorite pieces from summer just yet! I wore a bodysuit last week, an off the shoulder mini dress with cutouts the week before… obviously I’m having some separation anxiety. This outfit is no exception.

These wide leg pants have gotten me through two summers and I just figured out I don’t have to pack them away just yet! Cue the “ah ha!” By pairing them with this cropped sweater I’m getting just a little bit more wearability out of them. It helps that it has been a super warm October so far, but still.

I usually wear these Billabong pants with a crop top of sorts during the summer but I love the cozy feel the sweater gives this look. SO lesson to be learned here; if you have pieces from your summer wardrobe that you are in love with, don’t pack them away yet! Mix and match with your fall favorites and you’ll be able to wear them just a bit longer! sig 2

Fall Favorites

I am a sucker for the fall hues; burn oranges, chocolate browns, neutrals… they are all so very easy on the eyes. At least for me, anyway. I’m usually in head to toe black about 9 months out of the year, summer included, but these few months I love to pepper in a little of these earthy colors throughout my wardrobe.

Fun fact about this moto jacket… I had a similar one from Hollister that I LOVED! It was my go-to jacket for pretty much every outfit, but the fact that it was faux leather meant it didn’t have a long shelf life. It started to crack and peel a few months ago and my mom made me throw it away, haha! She was embarrassed for me… so I was on the hunt for a similar style that I could fall just as in love with and I found it within minutes during a trip to South Moon Under. The belt around the bottom is an added bonus as well, it makes me feel just a touch more badass. It fits like a glove, it’s comfortable and warm. Well worth the seriously low price tag of just $128! *steal*

I’m in love with these pants! I didn’t think I would be because they’re so different from anything I’ve ever worn, but they’re comfortable and they’re fun. They feel like a skirt but they’re pants so you don’t have to worry about any Marilyn Monroe moments. All in all, my fall wardrobe is growing on me this year. I thought I would miss the bare skin and laid-back approach to my summer style but you may just have a changed woman on your hands.

Get Dressed Up with South Moon Under

I have one place where I typically stop when I need a dress or outfit for a special occasion/night out. South Moon Under, duh. As if you couldn’t tell from previous blog posts! ;] I’ll be attending a small private shopping party there next week to stock up on some fall essentials, and I can’t wait to browse their new arrivals! I have a few weddings coming up this season and they have started to expand on their special occasion dresses and this one is PER-FECT for these events!

I was torn between a few different styles, but I loved the subtle cutout on this dress. It’s a little bit edgy without being overly sexy, ya know? The sequin detail is so swoon-worthy as well! Everything about this dress, I love.

So I’m torn between wearing this dress, or a long gown I bought from Shein (for literally less than $30 hiioo!!) to the wedding next month. It’s October, so I feel like I could totally get away with a floor length dress… but you just never know how fancy the event is going to be or what the brides maids are going to be wearing! So I just don’t know… this SMU dress might just be the perfect stress reliever!

Like a Rolling Stone

Fun fact.. most of my blog pictures are taken in an alley behind my mom’s office because she takes most of my pictures when we have about 10-15 minutes to spare while she’s at work, hah. Other times, we hop out of the car in other random alleys on the way to dinner to take pictures. That happens to be the case here. Alleys apparently make for some pretty backdrops.

This is one of my favorite skirts and I only got to wear it twice before it disappeared for over a year! Luckily, Matt found it in a long lost dry cleaning bag and returned it to me, haha. I’ll never let it out of my sight again! This skirt is perfection. The pleats and the midi length are a far cry from what I can usually be found wearing, but I love that it pairs perfectly with just about anything. So versatile.

I wore this ensemble into the city for a meeting last week, and this must be my lucky #ootd because it landed me a brand spankin new job! HOORAY! I’m so excited to be back in the city, aaaaand lucky for me, it’s only 3 days a week so I still get to spend a lot of time with Charlotte and Kennedy. Actually, my new job is with a company I’ve been working with for about 3 years now in another role, so yeah… hah. But doesn’t it show how friggen cool this company is that you can show up for an interview in a Rolling Stones tank top and they love it? ;]

Always off the Shoulder

My love for off the shoulder tops was taken to a whole new level when I found this OTS (off the shoulder) bodysuit at South Moon Under. It fits so well and it’s extremely flattering, and it pairs well with just about anything. I wore it for the first time with white jeans and a pair of Converse to a Yankee game. This time I opted for a pleated skirt and fringe heels for a meeting in the city.

I get so many compliments when I wear this bodysuit. It seriously fits like a glove. It’s the first bodysuit I’ve ever owned and now I’m somewhat obsessed. I don’t know why I was so hesitant to buy one of these earlier. It probably has something to do with the fact that it’s a huge pain in the ass to go to the bathroom when wearing one, hah, but whatever… it’s worth it.

It’s been so long since I’ve worn these fringe heels, I forgot how much I loved them! I hate it when that happens! My mission is to wear these way more this summer because fringe is still in and it doesn’t get much more fringy than these!
