Fall Favorites: October

Oh my goodness, I have not posted since September?! I feel like I have abandoned you guys! My apologies. Well we’ve moved into another month… adios September, hello October! A lot of people love September because it’s still warm enough to not make us depressed but cold enough to break out the Fall wardrobe we all love so much. I must admit I am one of those people, but I love October and November too! With October comes pumpkin picking and leaves changing and there is something about the cold Fall air that I love! November, well November includes my favorite Holiday, Thanksgiving! And so, I mosey on to the chillier months with a smile on my face.

I have some new favorite things that you should all get your hands on for the Fall. New smells, new looks, new shiz. Check it out. ;]

1. Chunky knit infinity scarf: They are still my favorite. But as it gets colder you need to amp up the warmth a little bit. Trade in your skimpy infinity scarf for something much more durable. I found two that I absolutely love at Forever21.

2. Frye Boots; Dorado Riding: Um… I don’t know what else to say about this boot except YUM! The color, the height, the embellishments. I don’t even have to justify why this is perfect.

3. Say Yes to Blueberries Facial Towellets: As we all remember from September, I had these in cucumber and they were fantastic. I switched it up this month to give my skin something new so it doesn’t get too used to one thing. As well as removing makeup, dirt, and oil from your skin’s surface, these are ‘brightening’ cloths. Not exactly sure how, or if it’s just in my head, but I’m 100% they are brightening my skin after only 2 uses already. Go get some!

4. Essie Nail Polish in Power Clutch: This color scared me at first. It looks so hard in the bottle and I already have 20 shades of black I don’t use. But when applied it’s a magical mix of greys, and greens, and blacks… I don’t know, but it’s perfect for fall. Well done Essie!

5. Faux Fur Vest: I have a faux fur coat from last year and I’m almost tempted to cut the sleeves off (don’t worry, Matt, I won’t actually do it!) Grab yourself a faux fur vest before it gets too cold and you need to put the sleeves back on. HAH they are adorable and look so chic with everything. The perfect accent to any outfit.

6. Knit Beanie: I cannot lie… I’m not a huge fan of hats… considering I have a head the size of a pea and those “one size fits all” hats are complete bullshit. They never fit me. I need to keep my head warm too, ya know! So knit beanies are the perfect solution. To me they almost always run on the small side so they always fit my head and they look adorb!

7. Yankee Candle in Fireside: Every fall I get sad that we don’t have a fireplace. There is something about the smell of a fire burning in someone’s house that just makes me happy, I miss that smell! So thank you, Yankee Candle, for producing a candle that smells like a fire, you are angels.

8. Linea Pelle boho bag; Dylan Medium: Linea Pelle is one of my favorite handbag & accessories designers. She sticks to interesting yet not over the top colors and most of her items are lined with a zebra print fabric. How can anyone not love that? Across-the-body bags are big for the fall so her Dylan in red is one of my favorite things this fall. Unfortunately when I told that to my husband his response was “I think you have enough bags.” Silly husband… you’ll get it eventually. ;]

So those are a few of my favorite things this month! I forgot to add a comfortable flannel, but I think that kind of goes without saying. Here is a picture of me from last weekend at Long Branch’s Pooch Parade! I’ve combined a few of my favorite things from this month & last. But seriously, how cute is my dog? He’s the best! He’s being stylish as well with his “Link News” t-shirt. Unfortunately he’s not exactly coordinated enough to participate in the parade, but he was a good mascot anyway.

Also, I forgot to add my Tune yesterday, so feel free to check it out today! Have a great day, peeps. xo

Fall Favorites: September

Well the seasons are changing and so is my mind. I am a very fickle person when it comes to style and things I like, so it only seems appropriate to give updates monthly. These are a few of my favorite things so far for the month of September.

1. Infinity scarf from Ann Taylor Loft: I love, love, love scarves and there is something about infinity scarves that I just cannot get enough of. They are so chic and stylish and yet still get the job done. The animal print? An added bonus.

2. Sweater from Banana Republic: They just opened up a new Banana in the Short Hills Mall and I almost died when I first walked in there. Everything is gorgeous and they make the most comfortable clothes. I love the details on this sweater, cardigans can look so alike after a while.

3. Leather jacket from Express: Every BAMF needs a leather jacket. End of story.

4. Leggings from Express: I live in Express leggings. They are super comfortable and don’t give you that awkward camel toe that everyone is petrified of. Grab yourself a pair if you haven’t already.

5. Jimmy Choo ‘Biker’ Boot: Along with the leather jacket, every BAMF needs a pair of these bad boys too. Matt got me a pair as an anniversary present and I haven’t taken them off since. They are durable and lined with the softest rabbit fur on the inside which keeps your foot snug and comfy!

6. Urban Decay eyeshadow in Baked and Blunt: Gold is an amazing color for fall, jewelry and makeup alike. These are two of my absolute favorite shades for fall. I shade the lighter color (blunt) all over the lid and work baked into the creases and corners. I usually line my eyes with a deep brown liner to pull the look together.

7. Coconut Oil: I know what you’re thinking… um Rachel.. this is a cooking ingredient? But oh no friends, it’s so much more! Did you know you can use coconut oil for your skin and hair? Because ya can. So try it. This particular brand in general has directions right on the label. And it works fabulously. My skin and hair had really never felt better.

8. Yankee Candle; Home Sweet Home: Ok, this, unlike the coconut oil, is not a product that is a jack of all trades, so please do not melt the wax and rub it in your hair thinking it’s the next new Moroccan hair oil. I do not want to be responsible for that. This literally is just an amazing candle and I adore the way it smells. Home Sweet Home is the perfect name for this scent… it makes me want to pick up an Iced Passion Tea from Starbucks and go pumpkin picking. Fantastic. Take a whiff.

So! These are a few of my favorite things in September so far. I’m not quite ready to part ways with my shorts and my flip flops… but when I think about all of the things I love about Fall I’m starting to cope. What are your favorite things for Fall?

A Step in the Weird Direction.

This morning a coworker of mine sent out an e-mail showcasing a few absurd pairs of shoes. Being that we are a shoe company, she was mostly joking saying some of these shoes could be the next big thing at LP. You’re going to laugh, but there are maybe one or two pairs that I would actually wear. Can you guess which ones?

My one regret…

One day, about two years ago during one of mine and Matt’s leisurely strolls through Short Hills Mall we walked past the Jimmy Choo store and I literally stopped in my tracks. In the window were these sky high sandals that were electric blue and black zebra print and they wrapped all the way up the ankle. OK. I have to be honest… I just spent about 45 minutes trying to search for these shoes on the internet to show everyone (ha!) and I actually found the ad that I first saw them in! Note: I literally haven’t seen these shoes in over two years, I almost forgot what they looked like. Which brings me back to my story. I stood in front of the store, starring at this amazing ad, with this gorgeous blonde rocking these shoes like I wouldn’t even think possible. I may or may not have even had to wipe away a little drool from my mouth. Matt saw on my face how badly I wanted these very shoes on my feet. I wouldn’t have cared if they made me bleed. I wanted these shoes. The downside? They were only about 900 dollars… no big deal, right? We’ll even get 3 pairs… naht. Matt was doing great at work… but not that great. But he knew I was jonesing for beautiful shoes, and standing right there in front of the window, he said, “you want them? They’re yours.” and do you know what I said? ….. “No, that’s ok.” (NO… that’s ok!? Kill me). He offered again. I declined again. I knew we couldn’t afford it. From then on out I couldn’t even walk past that store because I was afraid I would burst into tears at the very sight of them. One day, a few months later, Matt brought it up again. And I was like you know what… I do want them. I don’t ask for much (this was two years ago… we all know i’m a big brat now ha). It could be my birthday/christmas/valentines day/easter/whatever-other-holiday-there-is present. So we went back…. and the freaking shoes were GONE. I never even got to hold them or try them on, I never got the chance to look them up to possibly find them online later. Which is why I had such a hard time searching for these shoes. Because believe me, I tried. And here we are… over two years later, and I google “Jimmy Choo Ads” because I have no idea what they’re called or how else I could possibly find them… and there they are. My beautiful, beautiful babies. Please, observe:

I literally have to fight back a few tears even now. Had I been the spoiled brat I am now, two years ago, I would own these bad boys. I have no where in the world to wear them, but whatever. I’d walk around our apartment in them and just feel fabulous.

The point being… when someone offers you something you REALLY TRULY want, will die without, must have and can’t imagine life without it… just take it. After all, you deserve it.
