Overdressed

I really look forward to any event which allows me to dress up, even the littlest bit, so fancy date nights really excite me. Except our favorite “fancy” date night spot is surprisingly casual, so, womp womp. Over the weekend we planned to grab dinner at a cute, “fancy schamncy” place in town, so I dressed right up… but we changed our plans last minute to get dinner with friends instead… at a very casual Mexican restaurant. So needless to say I was absurdly over dressed for the occasion but whatever… that’s just me.

DRESS | JACKET | BOOTS | HAT | BAG

I snagged this dress off of Amazon towards the end of the summer and felt like I didn’t wear it nearly as often as I should have for how cute it was. It had been tucked into the depths of my closet since then, but in searching for something to go with my favorite over the knee boots I wanted to wear a piece I haven’t worn in a while. It may be a heinously inappropriate dress for mid-January but paired with these boots and a warm coat (not the leather one pictured here) it was perfect.

I had worn the same faux leather jacket from H&M for the last …. 5 years? Through every season; with layers if it was too cold, with barely anything if it was too warm. It was my actual go to. Unfortunately it basically died this year. The risk you take with a faux-leather item from a store like that… it started to peel. I will say it lasted way longer than I ever thought it would, but when I finally had the courage to let it go for good I knew I needed to find something else I would love just as much, if not more, which meant I knew I had to spend a little more money this time around. Cut to Linea Pelle’s Cameron leather jacket. AND SWOON. I had not-so-secretly been lusting after this jacket for, let’s just say, a hot minute. It finally went on sale and I pounced on that “add to cart” button like a hungry jungle cat stalking its prey. Ya feel me? This particular style is sold out (biggest BOOOOOOOO ever) BUT an almost identical version with embellished sleeves is still available, and truly, just as perfect. The fit is more snug than I would like it to be… which means layering will probably not be an option… unless it just needs some time to be broken in. If you want the tighter fit, it’s true to size, if you want a more versatile look and the ability to throw this over literally anything, I suggest ordering a size up (I’m wearing a small).

Wide Leg Obsession

I currently have four pairs of wide leg pants hanging on my clothing rack. It’s one of the main things I am obsessed with this year. You can also add overalls to that list… I now have 3 pairs and the collection is growing. So, naturally I adore these wide leg overalls A LOT.

LOL this last picture actually cracks me up… that’s what happens when you just keep snapping and hoping at least one picture comes out. Not that I think this picture is ‘blog material,’ so to speak, but I think it’s a pretty funny one so whatever. I tried on this ruffle top and fell in love immediately, so I purchased it without having any idea what the hell I would pair it with. I held onto it for a couple weeks, and then these Shein pants came to me and, wa-la! The perfect pair. The straps on these overalls are actually detachable, and they came with a long belt in matching fabric, and we all know versatility makes my world go round, so I was pretty stoked on that.

Seeing Stars

If you have been following along on my Instagram, then you’re well aware by now I have recently purchased a pair of high waisted faux leather leggings I am obsessed with. I’ve been trying to find any and every excuse to wear these bad boys as often as possible…seriously, I’d wear them to work if I thought my boss wouldn’t kill me.

LEGGINGS, TOP, HEELS, HAT

I really cannot say enough amazing things about these leggings. I am obsessed with the fact that they’re high waisted. I love leggings but I feel like they’re all super low-rise and my ass crack is hanging out half the time. I’m always stopping to hike them up… it’s just not comfortable. These fit like a little leather glove. They suck everything in like Spanx and yet are incredibly stretchy. I bought a small and when I took them out of the package they looked like they would fit Charlotte. I was like oh hellllllll noooooo. But they fit perfectly and they’re so comfortable. I wore these out for drinks last week with a long tank top and booties because it was still pretty chilly, but it’s going to be all crop tops and body suits as the weather gets warmer. They are a little more on the expensive side, especially for leggings, but Revolve has FREE 2 day shipping and they’re seriously so comfortable and flattering they are worth every single cent. It’s worth mentioning that this is in no way a sponsored post… I just really, really love them that much, haha.

Isn’t this top so fun? I bought it in December when I had to bar tend on New Years Eve and wanted something festive… however I didn’t end up wearing it because I figured the bell sleeves would get in the way. It’s been sitting in my closet since, waiting for the perfect bottoms to pair it with, and here they are. I love the sheer star print… I’m also feeling this top, and this one!

Black Tie Optional

I can’t tell you guys how long I have wanted to a tuxedo dress. I first saw blogger Brooklyn Blonde wearing one and I nearly melted. She looked amazing. I quickly reminded myself that not everyone looks as good in certain things as others, and I certainly wouldn’t look as great in anything she wears, the tuxedo dress is a tough trend to pull off as it is… however! I spotted this one from Closet London and threw caution to the wind. Now it’s a part of Closet Rachel (see what I did there? hah!) and I love it! What do you guys think?

I love this dress because you can never have too many LBD’s and but after a while they all kinda look the same. Obvi, as I’ve already said, I’m pretty much in love with the tuxedo-style detailing. It’s Market Week at work (again) and I think I might have to throw this on for the occasion.

img_4951img_4949img_4947img_4943img_4941img_4939

I threw the belt on to cinch the waist a little bit and add a bit of color but to be honest it doesn’t necessarily need it. The dress fits like a glove. It may run a tiny bit on the smaller side but not by much… I think going the next size up would be too much room. Just an FYI. :] Hope y’all had a great weekend! Stay warm!

So is it Fall Yet, or What?

It’s going to be in the 80’s this week… it’s mid October… I’m confused. I don’t know how to dress. BUT while the warm weather is here I’m going to take advantage of it by wearing my favorite bodysuit at least one more time.

The last time I wore this bodysuit it was the middle of the summer and my boyfriend and I were grabbing some rooftop cocktails. I paired it with an envelope skirt and heels, and I kind of thought this was just a summer piece and I wouldn’t really be able to wear it much after that, ya know? Threw these jeans on with it on a whim and I must say… I’m diggin it. The hat is a great fall accessory, and if the temperature decides to drop a little bit I’ll throw on my favorite moto jacket to top it off.

img_4721img_4722img_4726img_4730img_4736img_4735img_4737

So I used to think that you needed the perfectly perky fake boobs to be able to wear plunging bodysuits… I wouldn’t even try them on, honestly. BUT I loved the way they looked on everyone else and I was like F IT! I’m gettin one. And now I’m obsessed! Of course I always wish I had the big fake boobs that hold themselves up, but whatever. Be comfortable in your own skin and you can wear whatever you want, right?

Mini Bell Sleeves

I’m not over the off the shoulder look yet. I get that it’s a more spring and summer appropriate style, but throw on a leather jacket and some high boots and you’ve got yourself a fall look right here. Luckily, it’s been warm enough lately for me to wear this little striped dress as is!

With the acceptation of Hurricane Matthew’s overflow of rain the past few days, it had been relatively nice out around here. During the day it’s nice and warm in the sun, the perfect weather for this dress. I picked this dress because of the color, first. I really don’t own a whole lot of gray. It’s either black, or white. There has been no in-between. I wanted to try something different. And of course, I love the off the shoulder trend and I own nothing with bell sleeves! So it’s a win-win all around.

img_3289img_3264img_3309img_3304

This choker gives me liiiiiiiiiiiife. I literally try to wear it as often as possible. I love that it’s more bold than any other choker I own, it’s so fun. I’ve started wearing Schiap from NARS on the reg again. It was my summer color last year, but I tried to wear less lipstick this summer (honestly it’s a pain in the butt to keep up with hah) but I forgot how much I loved this shade. Much like this choker I’m trying to work this lipstick into every outfit these days.

Day to Night with Closet London

A couple weeks ago (yes, a couple… I am so bad at blogging right now! Yikes!) I showed you guys how I styled this full skirt from Closet London for a day time look. Today I’ll show you guys how to switch it up for a night on the town by just swapping out a few pieces.

I switched out my lace up sandals for some sky high platforms, changed into a crop top, and added a bag with a little more attitude to bring this skirt from day to night. This is the last post from me with light hair! Gasp. I must say though… everyone seems to like me with darker locks. It feels a little bit more… “me.” Like throwback Rachel, if you will. You’ll see. :]

img_3722img_3719img_3716img_3715

Remember my beloved pockets? Seriously. I love them. I’m a little bit sad that the blog posts are going to feature more layers soon. As in like…. the next thing I post. WAH. I love fall but it’s been a pretty cold one already, right?

Cozy Knits, High Slits

Guys…. this dress is hands down one of the most comfortable I have ever owned! It fits so well, it’s super flattering, and it’s SO. DAMN. COMFORTABLE. Are you sold yet? Because you should be.

Side note… this is my last post with blonde hair!!! ::tears:: So many tears, haha. I absolutely loved being blonde…. it was my jam. My hair on the other hand? Not so in love with it. My hair took a serious beating over the past few years in my epic journey to becoming a blonde. It basically got to the point where it would just break off. I decided as fun as being blonde was I needed to give my hair a break and let it get healthy again. I’m now on a journey to go dark again. I’m the most fickle person EVER when it comes to my hair… seriously. But looking at these pictures makes me super sad… I’ll miss my blonde alter ego!

img_3330img_3328img_3327img_3320img_3318

Anyway, back to the dress. It’s perfect for fall! The neutral tone totally compliments the season, the knit material makes it perfect for cooler temperatures. Throw on over the knee boots and a mini leather jacket when it gets cold and you’re good to go. The dress comes with a nude slip to wear underneath because being knit it’s obviously a little bit on the see-through side. Although the slip tends to ride up A LOT over my butt. I was already pretty well endowed back there, but my boyfriend who is a personal trainer has been kicking my ass hardcore at the gym the past few weeks and squats and lunges are basically his favorite thing in the world. I’m not complaining, your butt could always use the help… but my clothes are starting to fit a little tighter, haha. I would assume the slip doesn’t fall so short on everyone.

img_3326img_3324

Let’s talk about this choker too! It gives me life. I love the choker trend but most right now are on the delicate side… which I also really like, however, it’s fun to go bold every now and then! I wore this to work last week with a bold plum lip to match and I got so many weird looks… I guess a bold lip & statement choker early in the morning are a bit much for some people (LAME).

Like a Rolling Stone

Fun fact.. most of my blog pictures are taken in an alley behind my mom’s office because she takes most of my pictures when we have about 10-15 minutes to spare while she’s at work, hah. Other times, we hop out of the car in other random alleys on the way to dinner to take pictures. That happens to be the case here. Alleys apparently make for some pretty backdrops.

This is one of my favorite skirts and I only got to wear it twice before it disappeared for over a year! Luckily, Matt found it in a long lost dry cleaning bag and returned it to me, haha. I’ll never let it out of my sight again! This skirt is perfection. The pleats and the midi length are a far cry from what I can usually be found wearing, but I love that it pairs perfectly with just about anything. So versatile.

IMG_1621IMG_1625IMG_1630

I wore this ensemble into the city for a meeting last week, and this must be my lucky #ootd because it landed me a brand spankin new job! HOORAY! I’m so excited to be back in the city, aaaaand lucky for me, it’s only 3 days a week so I still get to spend a lot of time with Charlotte and Kennedy. Actually, my new job is with a company I’ve been working with for about 3 years now in another role, so yeah… hah. But doesn’t it show how friggen cool this company is that you can show up for an interview in a Rolling Stones tank top and they love it? ;]

Always off the Shoulder

My love for off the shoulder tops was taken to a whole new level when I found this OTS (off the shoulder) bodysuit at South Moon Under. It fits so well and it’s extremely flattering, and it pairs well with just about anything. I wore it for the first time with white jeans and a pair of Converse to a Yankee game. This time I opted for a pleated skirt and fringe heels for a meeting in the city.

I get so many compliments when I wear this bodysuit. It seriously fits like a glove. It’s the first bodysuit I’ve ever owned and now I’m somewhat obsessed. I don’t know why I was so hesitant to buy one of these earlier. It probably has something to do with the fact that it’s a huge pain in the ass to go to the bathroom when wearing one, hah, but whatever… it’s worth it.

IMG_9943IMG_9942IMG_9938IMG_9935IMG_9933IMG_9932

It’s been so long since I’ve worn these fringe heels, I forgot how much I loved them! I hate it when that happens! My mission is to wear these way more this summer because fringe is still in and it doesn’t get much more fringy than these!
