Pretty in Pleats

Last week on the blog I showed you guys my family photos that we shot recently to celebrate mine and Matt’s 5th year wedding anniversary. If you missed them, check it out here and here! I was fortunate enough to be gifted the stunning lace dress by the ladies at Lulu’s, but to my surprise they threw in another dress just in case we had time to shoot a second look. Unfortunately we didn’t… wah! But I was able to wear the dress later, just for you guys! It is stunning and perfect and I could not wait to photograph it!

I nearly died when I opened my package from Lulu’s and saw this dress. Originally I had planned to wear this one to take our family photos, which you can kind of tell from the matching dress Kennedy wore. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a pleated dress for Charlotte in time to match, so I opted for the white lace dress instead so we looked crisp in the same color, but different styles and textures. This dress though, I am in love with the soft pink color and the gold built-in necklace to hold it all together. It’s way more feminine than what I’m used to wearing which is why I chose to pair it with a leather jacket, black aviators, and a skull clutch…of course.

Don’t you just LOVE the movement of this dress? It’s so gorgeous! However I will say that it is not designed for petite girls. I’m about 5’4″ and even with heels on I continually found myself stepping on it or having to hike it up past my knees to walk. But it’s kind of one of those dresses that is so amazing you just deal with it, ya know? I mean… you could get it hemmed but I’m lazy. You can also see in a few photos above that we had a few expert photo bombers during this shoot. I seriously always forget that there’s other shit going on around me when I’m doing blog shoots, haha. The other day I was taking pictures against an office building and I was leaning against the wall and turned my head and there was a guy sitting at his desk about 2 feet away from me staring at me like “wtf is happening here?” ha! Forever cracks me up. Anyway! Special thank you to Lulu’s for being so damn amazing! And to Drew (my photographer) for teaching me all the little things about cameras and photography as we do this. He’s such a great teacher and obviously has a great eye!

Customize Your Accessories with Kemi Designs

If you take a peek throughout my jewelry collection you will undoubtedly notice that I have countless New Jersey themed accessories, for real. Remember this post of my most recent NJ find from Jaime Primak? Well I have added a little piece to my jewelry box that I am obsessed with! It boasts pride for where you’re from without being so obvious and I’m in love with that. Take a look!

Summer is coming to a close and the nights are starting to become a little too chilly for simply shorts or dresses so I’m working in summer wardrobe essentials that can take me through the beginning of fall. I adore these white jeans from Lulu’s! The distressed look just speaks to me. Not to mention they’re literally so soft they feel like wearing pajama bottoms. I can’t get enough!

Aside from these custom necklaces, Kemi also creates brail pieces, which I friggen love! As someone who is basically legally blind (seriously) it means a lot to me that someone would create such beautiful pieces and donate a portion of those proceeds to a good cause. Check out her stunning Love is Blind ringIMG_1505 IMG_1515

So! Back to this beautiful necklace you can see clearly a few pictures above. I’m in love with literally everything Kemi designs but I had to get my hands on one of her coordinates necklaces. I chose the coordinates of Oceanport, NJ… my hometown where I was born & raised. It has very special meaning to me, aside from just being where I’m from. I met my husband in OP where we both grew up (he moved here when he was in 5th grade). We were basically babies when we met and this past weekend we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! Cray. I have very very special anniversary photos coming soon so be sure to keep an eye out for those! Check out everything Kemi has to offer on her website here, I promise you’ll want everything!
