THE Quintessential Maternity Outfit.

This outfit is the epitome of everything I hate about maternity wear…. and yet, here I am, wearing it! UGH. I just feel like every pregnant woman you ever see has this outfit on: maxi skirt, tank top, denim jacket… like no matter the season, summer, winter, that’s what they’re wearing. And do you know why? Because that’s really all maternity lines will make! I tried to not ever wear an outfit like this in protest, but alas, here I am. Being THAT girl.

This skirt is one of the last maternity items I have bought. I made a vow to myself to stop buying maternity clothes at a certain point because I really don’t need any more, ha! I was drawn to the print on the skirt, and even though I tried to stay away from wearing an outfit like this, the skirt sold me. It’s bright and fun and OH MY GOD, so comfortable! It’s not hard to see why all those pregnant women wear outfits like this.

image-74A key styling tip if you’re going to take the easy way out & wear THE maternity outfit like I am: statement pieces! To avoid looking like every other pregnant woman, throw on a statement necklace eye catching enough to make people forget the rest of your outfit, haha! A bold lip doesn’t hurt your case either. Ok but in all seriousness, this outfit is so comfortable and being that I’m due in about 2 weeks, I’m really all about the comfort right now, ya dig? signature

The Michael Jackson Jacket

Eh Ho Hooo! I’ve had this jacket since last summer and I really love it, but I don’t wear it that often because I’m pretty sure I evoke the spirit of Michael Jackson every time I put it on.

These pants should be put under the ‘sleep wear’ section of the Asos website. I know maternity clothes are notorious for being comfortable in general, but these are on a whole different level. I snagged a few pairs just like these in different prints to last me through the entire pregnancy. They’re perfect for dressing down with a simple t-shirt and flats when I’m feeling casual, or dressing up with a tank & heels when I need to step out somewhere a little nicer (as seen here!)

Cozy in Camo

The back and forth with this weather is starting to slowly drive me to the point of insanity. I don’t mind the cold, I love the warm, but the back and forth I cannot handle anymore! Hah. One day I’m out and about in sandals and a sweater, the next day I can see my breath. It’s maddening!

image-34 image-43Nothing pictured here is actually maternity. I have decided that Anthropologie makes the BEST pants to wear at literally any time. These pants and another pair of my jeans, both from Anthro, I’ve been able to wear throughout my entire pregnancy. I’m 30 weeks now, and as long as the top button is unbuttoned these fit like a glove. Typically I don’t like to wear items that aren’t maternity this far along, they can be super uncomfortable, but with an elastic tied around the button to hold them together, these are actually amazingly comfortable with the soft material. I dig it!

Oh Mer Gerd, Polker Derts

My husband really enjoys it when I’m pregnant, the shopping I can do now compared to what I used to do on a weekly basis is almost non existent, ha.  However, now whenever I go out with a clear mission in mind to buy just one or two specific things for myself, I end up leaving with an entire new wardrobe for Charlotte anyway. I can’t help myself, miniature clothes are just so damn cute. Since it wasn’t looking like it was going to warm up anytime soon, I decided to head out and pick up a few last minute winter essentials to get me through the rest of the cold front.

I’m really hoping it’s one of those maternity pieces that doesn’t look like a maternity piece when I no longer have  a big bump and I can wear it next winter… ha. Those are always the best investments, and items that aren’t maternity that I can wear while pregnant. God bless stretchy fabrics!

IMG_1233 IMG_1235Anyway, it IS supposed to be almost 50 and sunny this weekend! I plan to get outside and do some honest-to-goodness blogging under the actual sun. Keep your fingers crossed!

A Week in Leather || Day 6

The last dressed up look for the week! Tomorrow it’s another casual, comfortable look with these leather leggings! But for now, a dressed up chic outfit for ya’ll.

This is a top from my last pregnancy with Charlotte. Some of the clothes that are available in maternity lines are pretty neat because you can actually wear them when you’re not pregnant, this top being one of them. It’s a pretty top to wear in the Spring with white pants as well! One more look coming for you guys, are you ready!? ;]

The Skull Society

My favorite (& most obvious) way to make my summer wardrobe last all year long is throwing tights under my dresses and sweaters over them. However, on a day like today when it’s nearly 60 degrees out, it doesn’t feel entirely necessary, but I do it anyway. If not for warmth then to hide my grossly pale skin. Summer, I need you!

IMG_0042The remnants of Christmas Past haunt this picture, and my house! It’s time to clean up all of our Christmas decorations for sure. I enjoy the time after Christmas because there are no real holidays left to decorate for. Time to relax…. in that sense anyway!

IMG_0037

This necklace is to die for! it’s one of my favorites, but I rarely wear it because I’m really picky about what I wear it with, hah. I’m trying to work it into my wardrobe more often, it doesn’t seem right not to.IMG_0052 IMG_0056 IMG_0059 IMG_0060 IMG_0066I snagged this dress last summer from H&M. For a summer style, I throw a metallic belt around the waist with a pair  of my best gladiator sandals and I’m off. Being able to utilize your wardrobe no matter the season is fabulous, especially when having weather like this! 60 and sunny one day, rainy and 30 the next. You don’t quite know what to do with your clothes. When all else fails, layer, layer, layer! Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas holiday! See you in the new year! Until then, kisses!
