I LOVE THIS DRESS. !!!! I feel like a sexy little mermaid when I put it on, haha. I’m going to Liberty Science Center After Dark tonight with my best friends to celebrate my birthday so I’m going to be wandering around the museum and doing the climbing wall and touch tunnel and whatnot… but if I wasn’t… I’d be wearing this out tonight. It’s the perfect little party dress! Oh yeah and if it wasn’t 20 degrees outside. What is that madness?! Holy winter. Perhaps I’ll get to wear it on New Years Eve?

So… I’m going to get a little deep with you guys for a hot minute. The past year of my life has been the most challenging thus far. There is no manual that comes with “adulting.” No one has the answers… no one can tell you what to do when all of the sudden your life turns to shit. I have yet to have the mental breakdown I think I deserve. I have somehow, surprisingly kept my cool this year. That being said, things have not gotten any easier, nor do they look like they are going to anytime soon. So I’m setting some goals for the next year to make sure I can continue to keep my cool. Screw Near Years Resolutions… what better time to start changing your life than now, am I right? My first priority is going to be..wait for it… MYSELF! I have a habit of putting other people and their needs before my own. Obviously this excludes my babies. Once you have kids you’re never quite a priority anymore, hah. But in all honesty, I have a hard time saying no. I’m always afraid people are going to be disappointed in me if I don’t come through for something. So my first change will just be to put myself first. Sometimes you have to recharge your own batteries before you can be there for anyone else. Next, I’m going to be healthier, in general. I enjoy working out… I don’t smoke.. I’m don’t drink all that much… eating healthy though? Not my thang. I try, but I mean… why deprive myself? BUT! I’ve already started cutting out my morning bagel (I literally had one every day on the way to work, no lie) and I gotta tell ya, it feels good! Anyway, I’m going to work harder, be more passionate, take myself more seriously and create a life for me and my girls we can all be proud of. Wish me luck guys. :] And cheers to YOU! Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart, for following along for the past few years. Love you, love you, love you.

NYE Look Book: Sparkle & Shine [part 2]

Yesterday I showed you guys a look for wearing metallics and sequins for New Year’s Eve. They were a little bit more on the casual side. In today’s post we’re going to spice things up a little bit in case your plans are much more festive. Let’s start with my favorite; sequins!

BLAZER: H&M (similar here, here) || TOP: FOREVER21 || PANTS: H&M || BRALETTE: VICTORIA’S SECRET || SHOES: GUISEPPE ZANOTTI || SHADES: RAY BANS || WALLET: TORY BURCH || EARRINGS: FOREVER21

Four things that will instantly kick your outfit up to the next level: super sheer lace, leather, sequins, and insane heels. Bonus points if you’re wearing all four of these at the same time, haha! When I bought this bralette I originally just planned on wearing it with loose white t-shirts but quickly discovered just how perfect it is for a lace top such as this. It fits like a sports bra, which is pretty amazing. It’s SO comfortable, but the criss cross straps across the chest are the sex.

IMG_1173I love the shit out of this sequin blazer…. excuse my french. But it’s so fun! I’ve worn it with white t-shirts and jeans, little black dresses, seriously anything. It’s a great piece to dress up the otherwise simple look, ya know? Also, these shades, obsessed. I picked them out for myself as a Christmas present because we decided to get Charlotte her own mini pair of Ray Ban aviators and I was like well………we need to match soooo…. ;]

To be honest, I’m probably not even going to do anything this NYE. Charlotte is still getting over bronchitis and I don’t feel like leaving her for another night, ya know? BUT If I were, I think this would totally be the outfit I’d go with. These leather pants are pretty much everything and the sequin blazer is my favorite. This is most my style for a night like this. However, that being said, sometimes we like to celebrate NYE the super fabulous way and that requires a dress/skirt. Let’s discuss that, k?

I actually randomly won this skirt through an instagram contest, true story! I never enter instagram/twitter contests, like ever, but I was scrolling and saw this skirt and I was like OH MY GOD #need. So I entered and I won! yay. Isn’t it gorgeous? It begs to be worn on a festive holiday like Christmas or New Years. The metallic pleats catch every little bit of light and legit make you shine.

This type of getup would be something I would wear to a fancy NYE dinner at a swanky little place and then out for post dinner drinks to watch the ball drop. That’s actually my favorite type of NYE celebration. A few years ago me, my husband, one of my best friends, and one of his best friends all went out to a fancy dinner for New Years and it’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had celebrating this holiday. If we end up doing anything at all this year, I’d like it to be that…… dinner at a nice place, early, and then have my ass home in my sweatpants to watch the ball drop comfortably from my couch, haha. Well! Whatever it is you end up doing, I hope you have a fantastic evening and pull a little inspiration from my posts and have a great time! Cheers to 2015, hope it is your best year yet!

NYE Look Book: Sparkle & Shine [part 1]

When I was in 5th grade I did a lip sync at my school to Barbie Girl, by Aqua. Myself and 3 of my friends wore sparkly crop tops with fringe…that our moms made. That was the day my love affair with sequins started. Unfortunately as you get older it becomes less socially acceptable to wear sequins on the reg, until of course, New Years Eve. Between today and tomorrow I’m going to show you guys two different ways to wear sequins and metallics for your festivities. Behold, the sequins.

sequin shorts

SWEATER: FOREVER21 || SHORTS: H&M || TIGHTS: H&M || SHOES: FOREVER21 (similar) || BAG: FOREVER21 (similar) || SHADES: RAY BANS || NECKLACE: FRANCESCA’S || RING: C/O ROMAN LUXE

SEQUIN SHORTS PINK SEQUIN SHORTS SEQUIN SHORTS

When I bought these shorts over the summer I had no idea when and where I would wear them, they literally have sat in my dresser until now, when I realized they’re pretty much made for a night out to watch the ball drop.

Sequins can be quite the accessory in and of themselves, so to dress them down a bit I paired my pink shorts with a chunky knit sweater, tights, and booties. An outfit like this would be perfect for a somewhat casual but still festive dinner out for NYE, or a small house party. Now, let’s talk metallics.

gold metallic leggings

COAT: NORDSTROM (old, similar styles here, here, here) || TOP: H&M || LEGGINGS: DOR LA DOR || SHOES: CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN || BAG: TARGET || SHADES: URBAN OUTFITTERS || WATCH: MICHAEL KORS || BRACELETS: C/O ROMAN LUXE (here, here, here)|| RING: C/O ROMAN LUXE || RING: FRANCESCA’S || NECKLACE: FOREVER21

fur coat fur coat fur coat

So, I wore these leggings on Christmas Eve and to say I heard a few comments here and there from the peanut gallery would be an understatement. I soon realized that maybe my family and Matt’s family were not ready for such a bold look, HAHA. So leggings as eye catching as these would make for a fantastic outfit for NYE, you’ll fit right in there!

statement necklace metallic gold leggings faux fur coat accessories

My sister-in-law got me this necklace as a Christmas present and I couldn’t believe how perfectly it matched my outfit. I am in love. With printed leggings like these I always find it best to wear a top with a little length because the crotch on leggings always look so strange. I also hate it when people wear leggings as pants with like…t-shirts… can we stop that now? Anyway! Here are two ideas for a more casual NYE look! Stay tuned tomorrow for more sparkle and shine!
