Galentine’s Day Style

I think the idea of a Galentine’s Day celebration is the cutest idea ever! So fun and honestly, I always have the most fun with my girlfriends! Surprisingly, none of them are single this year, so I guess it’s not even an option, haha, but a great idea none the less! My best friend’s birthday is the day before Valentine’s Day sooo we could just combine the two? Anyway! Galentine’s Day is all about dressing up and feeling good about yourself, and if you want to wear all black, (as I usually do!) this is one holiday I don’t think anyone would mind.

As soon as I tried this top on I knew I had to have it. The shoulder cutouts are a big thing this year and I really dig that style. The tunic length with these textured leggings and pink rock stud heels screams ready for cocktails with the girls! How will you be celebrating this weekend? Don’t forget to stop by Juno, if you’re in the area, and browse their amazing selection of outfits. And when you’re done picking out something to wear this Sunday, head to their upstairs and pick out what you’ll be wearing underneath!

Casual Cocktails for Valentine’s Day

Aside from a romantic dinner you can also do a more casual cocktails to celebrate Valentine’s Day. In this case, a little lacy dress may be too much, so I opted for sequin track pants to keep the outfit classy while still a little casual. Side note; these track pants are SO comfortable! I bought sequin pants a few months ago at H&M and honestly never wore them because they were uncomfortable and, honestly, not flattering at all. I can’t remember why I bought them in the first place. These joggers are casual, comfortable, and so festive looking!

If you’re going to be doing something a little more casual for Valentine’s Day you might want to wear pants, as I would plan to hop from one place to another all night long, ha. I opted for my favorite skull clutch to add some of my signature edge to this outfit, which is a refreshing change from yesterday’s uber romantic look. Which one do you prefer so far? There’s one look left for my favorite kind of celebration; girls night!

Bundle Up with Sheinside

Winter happened in one weekend here in New Jersey. In two days we got dumped on with snow complete with high winds and bitter temperature, and then it was gone. Now it’s back to a nice 40-50 degree week. This cozy coat from Sheinside is perfect for these cool, but not frigid, days we’re experiencing.

When the coat itself is worn open and untied, it can be a bit overwhelming with the oversized collar. I liked to keep it tied to add shape to my waist and not get lost in all of the fabric.

I also love having a statement coat in my closet that isn’t fur. I love my fur coats, DUH, but you have to switch it up sometimes! The red is such a stunning color and I love the way it stands out against a snowy backdrop too! Sheinside has an amazing collection of coats at such amazing prices! I’m linking to some more of my favorite statement coats below!

Orange you glad I didn’t say it’s freezing?

It seems ironic that I’m posting this today, while we are in the midsts of yet another snow storm. BUT, last week we had some lovely warm weather. If only for one short sunny afternoon. I can still get down with that! There’s something about the sunlight that makes you want to be outside all day or go for a ride with your windows down… nevermind that it’s still only 48 degrees outside, and we’re supposed to get another “Polar Vortex” today… lovely!

This is one of my favorite tops from a small boutique in Red Bank, Dor La Dor. It’s hard to see under the oversized scarf, but it’s a simple long sleeved brownish, tanish, grayish light sweater. It looks great on, even with my growing bump! The fabric is stretchy so I should be able to get a few more wears out of it before I have to retire to maternity clothes full time.IMG_0338

Leather jackets in the middle of January? I don’t hate it. I do not hate it one bit! Throw on a big ol’ scarf, some knee high boots and you’re ready to take on the day! At least I was. I threw my daughter and 2 puppies in the car and headed out for an iced coffee from Starbucks. I miss iced coffee during the winter like it’s my husband who got drafted in the Revolutionary War and never came home. Makes sense, right? Oh and by the way! These are the new puppies!

Something sweet for your sweetheart.

This is the perfect little treat to make for your Valentine if you’re doing dinner at home tonight.

They’re heart shaped sugar cubes! Adorable right? They’re super easy to make, so let’s get started!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Sugar (obviously), red food coloring, a small mixing bowl, heart shaped cut outs. This also works really well if you can find heart shaped ice cube trays. I couldn’t find any in stores but Amazon had a ton. I went with heart-shaped fondant cut outs, which work just as well, and you can find them at pretty much any craft store. I got mine at AC Moore.

Step 1: Pour some of the sugar in a small little mixing bowl and add a few drops of the red food coloring. You can make a few batches with more or less food coloring to make some cubes more pink and some more red. Mix the sugar and food coloring well because it will start to clump once you add the color.

Before and After

Step 2: Add about a teaspoon of water to the sugar and mix well.

Step 3: Pour the sugar out onto a plate and cut out some hearts as if you’re using cookie cutters. Gently tap them out onto another plate. Some of them will fall apart and break, but that’s ok.

Step 4: Pop them in the freezer for a few hours. When they are finished and ready to go, just flip them over so the smooth and even part is now on the top.

If you’re making a nice, romantic, home made dinner for two, this will top off your dessert and really finish setting the tone for a romantic night!

Try these out today and let me know what your sweetheart thinks of their sweets! ;] Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers!
