Always off the Shoulder

My love for off the shoulder tops was taken to a whole new level when I found this OTS (off the shoulder) bodysuit at South Moon Under. It fits so well and it’s extremely flattering, and it pairs well with just about anything. I wore it for the first time with white jeans and a pair of Converse to a Yankee game. This time I opted for a pleated skirt and fringe heels for a meeting in the city.

I get so many compliments when I wear this bodysuit. It seriously fits like a glove. It’s the first bodysuit I’ve ever owned and now I’m somewhat obsessed. I don’t know why I was so hesitant to buy one of these earlier. It probably has something to do with the fact that it’s a huge pain in the ass to go to the bathroom when wearing one, hah, but whatever… it’s worth it.

IMG_9943IMG_9942IMG_9938IMG_9935IMG_9933IMG_9932

It’s been so long since I’ve worn these fringe heels, I forgot how much I loved them! I hate it when that happens! My mission is to wear these way more this summer because fringe is still in and it doesn’t get much more fringy than these!

Apparently it’s Still Winter.

I literally lived in this outfit, or some very similar variation of this outfit, ALL. WINTER. LONG. Throw on an extra layer for the really cold days and this was pretty much what you would find me wearing on any given day. Have I mentioned how much I hate winter coats? Anyway! Since it is supposed to be spring but it still feels like winter I figured I’d throw up one last cold weather inspired look.

I’m just going to point this out now that you will literally not see one picture in this post where I am not holding onto my hat for dear life, haha! It was so damn windy and this was one of those outfits where it just wouldn’t look the same without the hat. So whatever… I held onto it the entire time. Fun fun. Side note: don’t forget to use my code at DITTO.com to get your first month free! I am addicted to this website to try out new designer sunglasses whenever I feel like it. Addicted I tell you!

IMG_5750IMG_5747

These tops from Urban are so insanely comfortable, I have a few of them in different colors but I live in this one and my white one with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and slip on sneakers. They may no longer be available (at least can’t seem to find them online) but that’s ok because they make a tank top version which is just in time for the warmer temperatures… should they ever arrive! I sincerely hope this is the last time you see me wearing layers on this blog for a while. I am so over them.

The Birthday Suit

Whoops, it’s been a minute! Sometimes, guys, life actually does get in the way of blogging. Last week my children had a terrible stomach bug, and then got it! And then my husband got it… so it was a long, long week of feeling like death and needless to say, little got done, especially blogging. HOWEVER! It’s a new week, and with a new week comes a new outfit. I wore this outfit into the city last month for my birthday on a particularly warm evening!

Fun fact about the coat I’m wearing… it’s not just a coat, ha. When I found this romper I really wanted to wear it with a long black faux fur coat, however, I don’t own one nor could I find one anywhere! It looked weird with just the jacket so I layered on a fur vest to see how it looked and I was pleased. Definitely got the job done, while adding a little bit more warmth, and if you’re an avid reader of my blog you know I obviously love me some versatile pieces.

IMG_2276IMG_2278IMG_2282

My 28th birthday was probably one of my favorite birthdays ever in my adult life, haha. Matt organized the most amazing day in the city, and it was about 60 degrees (on December 15th… in New York, seriously), and then he surprised me with an intimate dinner at my favorite restaurant with my best friends! I’ve never been surprised before, it was so fun! It’s going to be hard to beat next year.

Bell of the Bottoms

I am very much into the retro vibes that have been making their rounds lately. When trying this trend on yourself keep in mind that fit and styling is very important. You really want to make sure you keep part of your look modern so you don’t appear outdated.

These flares are waaaaay comfortable! They’re basically leggings, jeggings I guess is the appropriate term really. I’ll be wearing them a lot in the following weeks, months, years.

IMG_2189IMG_2188IMG_2192

I jumped at the chance to wear this cape while I could on a particularly warm winter day, ha. In all reality I probably won’t be able to wear it again for a few months but I look forward to it! I’ll be wearing it all summer long as a coverup but for now it works for the 70’s vibe I was going for. Don’t you love when you find pieces like this that work for more than one season? Really get your moneys worth! The kimono is brand new but I can’t find the exact one online. So check out your local store, otherwise I linked to something similar above!

Per-suede Me

You ever try something on and love it so much you decide right then and there you have to have it in more than one color or print? Such is the case with this outfit. You may recognize this t-shirt from a pervious post  in a different color, and this skirt I loved so much I bought it in both colors I tried on. A girl has to have options, right?

This is one of those skirts that we’re seeing basically everywhere right now. The other color I bought was a deep olive green, much like the color of these booties. I am in love with the suede trend right now! The suede shift dresses I’m seeing everywhere are to die for! Uphoria has an olive green one that is so pretty. Unfortunately I only have these skirts (for now!), but I’m stoked to wear them both with slouchy sweaters and over the knee boots, too.

IMG_5477 IMG_5478 IMG_5487 IMG_5490

This is the t-shirt I was telling you guys about from Uphoria Boutique. They come in so many colors, I honestly can’t believe I had enough will power to only leave with two of them! I’ve been wearing both non-stop lately. They are so soft, and as I said before, very long in length so they pair great with leggings, which I have also been wearing a lot the past couple of weeks. It’s definitely due to the weather changing. It’s a challenge for me to get dressed up and put on actual pants when it’s always so dark and gloomy outside, amiright?

Laces Out (in).

I was unaware of how many LBD I have acquired throughout my lifetime until my recent trip to NYC for the weekend. I needed to wear all black at the Bloomingdale’s trunk show I guest hosted and I had a panic attack thinking I had nothing to wear and was about to head out to spend more money on a dress when I had a little epiphany. I figured I should just sift through my closet one more time before heading out and realized I have like 30 little black dresses to choose from, HA. While my favorite black mini leather dress from South Moon Under (previously worn here & here) made the cut, I grabbed this Uphoria Boutique mini dress for my dinner date that night!

I kept my accessories very understated for this look because I was a little too obsessed with the dress itself. The high neckline and keyhole cutout deemed a necklace unnecessary and I honestly didn’t pack any fun or exciting earrings to go with this, ha. I let my dress and my bag make their own statements. The lace detail on the back stole my heart as soon as I tried it on. Not to mention it fit like it was made for me! I swear if I could live in this dress I would.

IMG_5076 IMG_5071 IMG_5083 IMG_5081

Also, funny story about these shoes. They are not the shoes I intended to wear with this outfit. In fact, I didn’t even own these shoes until about 2 or 3 hours before dinner. I stood on my feet for hours throughout the trunk show and by the end I could barely walk, literally. (Why I chose to wear a pair of Louboutin’s to be on my feet all day I will never know). After the show I hobbled across the street to the Clark’s store to grab a pair of shoes, and at that point I would have bought pretty much anything. However, I put these sandals on and fell in love; they’re like walking on little mini clouds. I was a little hesitant to wear them to dinner later, after all I had packed 4 other pairs of heels to choose from, but they were so comfortable I decided to stick with them. Matt and I decided to skip the cab/uber/hotel car and walk back to our hotel after dinner… about 10 blocks! My feet were not bothering me at all. I’m so glad I decided to stick with the “sensible” shoes. While it’s not normally something I would opt for, I like a little more height and edge, I would have been miserable the entire night and would have missed out on exploring the city. Let that be a lesson to ya!

The Road Less Traveled

There is something about those places that people don’t often go to that I just love. They’re quiet, they’re clean, they’re undisturbed. Those are the places I like to spend my time… and take my pictures, ha!

Can we just talk about this bag for a quick sec because I’m obsessed. I spotted it immediately sitting on a table among tons of other adorable accessories and if you know me, you know my obsession with elephants is real, so I knew I had to have this bag. On the back, which you will also see, it says “Take Me to Paris” – adorbs! If you’re in the central NJ area, which a lot of you are in these summer months, you must stop by DaniRisi in Allenhurst and sift through all of her accessories! You walk in and your eyes literally don’t know where to go first, there’s so much amazingness in there! AND not to mention they are totally affordable. Can’t beat it!

IMG_4444 IMG_4446

See…. more elephants. Obsessed guys… obsessed! This tassel necklace from South Moon Under is one of my new favorite pieces. It’s also available in a variety of colors; a bright pink & orange combo and a light blue, which I had a hard time deciding between, just to name a few. IMG_4448 IMG_4449

I was on the fence with the gladiator sandal trend, but to be fair, I had never tried them on. When I found this dress at Uphoria I saw myself wearing it with tall gladiator sandals and was like hmmmm well now I have to go find a pair! I was determined not to spend too much money since I wasn’t sure exactly how I would feel about them and luckily I found these beauties at Charlotte Russe for only $30! Thankfully I love them and I think they ended up pairing perfectly with this tunic dress! I’m going to be wearing them aaaaaall summer long!

Skort the Issue

If your my age… 27 (gag!) fashion trends from your childhood are starting to come back in waves. I’ve seen a few girls trying to pull off the plastic wire choker but I wouldn’t count on that too soon, ha. However, many, many things like flatforms, bucket bags and backpacks, overalls, and skorts, just to name a few, have made their way into closets across the globe… including mine.

When I first grabbed this off the rack I thought it was just your typical little white dress. It wasn’t until I walked into the dressing room that I realized this was a skort. I was unsure at first… but I went ahead and tried it on anyway. It fit like a glove and I’m actually really into the skort look instead of a dress. As much as I’d love to be able to run around in heels and little dresses all the time, I am constantly chasing after two small children so the skort over the dress works perfectly for me. I don’t have to worry about pulling at my dress to make sure nothings hanging out. Win!

Oh so about my hair… hah! Last week you guys saw the cut but I went one step further and dyed it some fun colors. My stylist and I have done just about everything we can do to my hair. In case you were unaware, I have naturally very dark brown hair. We’ve been going blonde for about a year now. I’ve been toying with the idea of going dark again in the fall so while I have the blonde locks that are needed to dye your hair a wild color we decided to do it. I went for a pastel look instead of a bright look. It’s subtle but still fun, and the best part, temporary! ha If you like the look and you’re in the Red Bank area, definitely stop by Lambs and Wolves… ask for Candace ;]

The Perfect Spring Trench? Check!

For Valentine’s Day my dear husband, who I thought knew me so well, bought me a Burberry coat. Which sounds fabulous… but it was all wrong. I have been lusting after the burberry trench with black leather sleeves for a few years now, and if you’re going to wrap up a Burberry box, that better be in it. However… instead he bought me a serious mom coat. A cropped, quilted, cream colored coat. Thanks Matt… I played with the idea of keeping it as to not hurt his feelings, maybeeee exchanging it for the red one to make it more ‘me,’ but alas, I had to exchange it for something else entirely. And I’m glad I did because I found the perfect coat for spring that is me to a t!

Two things: 1… this bag is perfect for spring, right along with this coat, but I’ve talked about that a million times, ha, and 2… I really love this necklace. I have yet to send it back to Rocksbox and each day it stays in my home it kind of becomes more a part of me… haha! I don’t think I can give it back. eep!

So about this coat! It’s so light, which is one of the reasons I was so drawn to it. It’s perfect for layering on cooler spring days when it’s not quite warm enough to head out sans coat yet but you don’t want to over heat either. So I mean I could go on and on about this coat but I’ll stop here.. You get the picture. ;]

Cool off with Mint Julep

Have you guys ever seen ice boating? While taking these pictures my best friend and I were fascinated with this sport we had never seen before! We were about the only people in our area who had never witnessed this before apparently because just about everyone we spoke to thought we were pretty dumb for not knowing what it was. Well excuse us!

This maxi dress is everything! I am SO in love with it. It is so gorgeous and perfect for the summer, I literally cannot wait for you guys to see it! I layered it with a long sleeve top and closed toe heels to make it work for the colder temps because I seriously couldn’t wait until the spring or summer to wear it. It has a halter top style top and the print is so gorgeous. It’s the kind of dress that can easily go from a day at the beach to water front cocktails with just a change of shoes.

IMG_6091 IMG_6094 IMG_6098 IMG_6099These Rocksbox earrings are the things dreams are made of. They are the first items I’ve received that I really considered hanging on to… but alas, I sent them back. It was a very tough decision but I have a pair SO similar so I bit the bullet and sent them in. Maybe shed a tear or two in the process…maybe.

This is a funny little outtake, which I rarely ever post but I always have so many, ha. This one literally cracks me up because my bestie was SO so concerned with the boats behind me, she kept taking pictures of them instead of me, haha. But I mean, we’ve lived right by Red Bank our entire lives and we’ve never seen this before, it was pretty amazing.

So now for my special announcement! I recently got a chance to catch up with a dear friend of mine, Artem Lomaz of NinetyThree Entertainment, to discuss blogging and style tips, wedding do’s and don’ts, my love affair with certain celebrities, growing up with my husband, and much more! Artem serves as a Principal Event Host helping to coordinate all of the entertainment elements for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate events, and so much more. We sat down to an incredible meal at David Todd’s City Tavern in Morristown and caught up for a series he has previously introduced called ‘Dining with the DJ.’  You can watch all of our episodes soon, but for now here’s a little preview.
