The Military… So Hot Right Now

If you don’t live under a rock, although I’m sure many of us are actually wishing that is exactly where we live these days, then you know all about the drama happening in the United States with peaceful protests and Nazis and baby presidents, etc… well… I’m not even going to come close to touching on any of that on here. If you want to know my thoughts just read my tweets. *DISCLAIMER: there’s A LOT of F Bombs. However, with all this talk about the military I feel like it has certainly brought military fashion back into style and that I can get down with.

About a week ago my best friend & I decided to dye my hair light lavender… that’s what it said on the box anyway. When I flipped my head over to towel dry my hair I saw this shocking purple color and legitimately screamed out loud, haha! It was so much more purple than we thought it was going to be! It quickly grew on me though… about as fast as it started to fade. Womp womp. Now it really is the perfect shade of lavender and I love it! I may have to keep up with it… or let it fade completely and play with a new color. I can’t decide! What do you guys think?

I’ve tried to wear this outfit a few times this past month. I’m only like 10% mad it’s been too hot out to wear a heavy long sleeve button down. I’ve spent the past week at the beach and it’s been pretty fantastic. When the weather does start to actually seem fall-like, though, this will be the first thing I throw on for sure! The skirt I’m wearing here is from J Crew, but it’s a few years old, so I linked to a similar style above. I need to find a skirt just like this in black I think. I found this adorable little backpack at Forever21 while doing a little back to school shopping for Charlotte. They have a pretty cute girls’ section. With that said.. I was feeling inspired and obviously needed to buy myself a new backpack.. because why not? Duh.

Young, Fabulous, & Broke

If you don’t know by now… I’m pretty much always looking for the easy way out when it comes to my wardrobe. I’m the laziest fashion blogger this side of the Mississippi, for real (how I still even have this blog is beyond me, lolz). That is why I am beyond obsessed with the line Young, Fabulous, & Broke. They make insanely comfortable clothes that are super flattering.

I have worn this jumpsuit an embarrassing amount of times this summer. It’s actually a hand me down. shhh!! When I put it on for the first time I think I took about 18-25 mirror selfies. It makes my butt look uh-mazing! It’s so comfortable too. The jersey material is the kind of material you want everything you own to be made out of. Dress it up with a fancy statement neck and block heels for a date night, or dress it down with zero accessories (and zero shoes) to run some errands with your little ones.

I wish I could say I chose to shoot this jumpsuit in a real casual way, hence the lack of shoes… but honestly I had a total mom moment and ran out of the house with like 10 minutes to spare, my two girls in tow, and literally just forgot my shoes for this look. This is real life guys… haha. Funny story; while taking these pictures Kennedy took her shoes off and was running around and when I told her to grab her shoes so we could leave she goes, “ok Mommy! Don’t leave without me… or I’ll be pissed!” She’s been coming up with some zingers lately. Both of my girls are at such amazing ages. Charlotte has always had an old soul, and since she started Kindergarten it’s been so fun to watch her really come into her own. She has a whole new set of best friends, she comes home and reports everything her classmates had for lunch or talked about on the playground, she points out where all of her friends from the bus live. She’s literally going to be the old lady who sits on her front porch and gossips about the neighborhood later on in life. Kennedy on the other hand.. oh Kennedy. She is still my hot mess in a dress. If she isn’t wearing a dress she doesn’t consider herself a princess so her day is ruined if you make her wear pants. She is always sweaty… LOL. She may not look it, because she is always making devious plans and shooting dirty looks, but she is the biggest friggen snuggle bug EVER. She loves to cuddle and give random kisses. It kind of makes my day. Pardon my little side rant about the girls. I realize I hadn’t given any updates on them lately! AND now you’re all caught up!

Boho Romance

I have had this dress since early May and I’m just now getting it on the blog?! Criminal. If you follow my Instagram, then you have probably already seen it. I wore this 2 months ago when celebrating Kennedy’s birthday. I love the vibe of this dress; it is boho and romantic.

I pretty much only wear this dress either barefoot, or with my favorite summer sandals from Old Navy. Which I don’t think have made it to the blog yet… which is surprising to me! I basically never take them off. Oh well, I’m sure you’ll see them soon. Anyway! I kind of like to frolic around in this dress and pretend I’m a hippy, ha. I will say, if you ever purchase anything from Shein, play close attention to the customer comments!! EVERYONE said the sleeves were really, really tight… but I thought… well they couldn’t possibly be that tight! But boy, was I wrong! The dress was actually unwearable at first, I couldn’t move my arms and I felt like they might really fall off from lack of blood flow, LOL. However, I really loved the way it looked, so I decided to cut a little slit in each sleeve to loosen the elastic. After that it was perfection, so I’m glad I didn’t end up sending it back. But ya know, just a little shopping tip for their site! ;]

Road Blocks

So… as you may have noticed I have been flying under the radar in the blogging universe as of late. I won’t lie to you guys… I have completely lost my blogging mojo. I have had zero motivation to even sit down and write a post with content I already have. The mere thought of it exhausts me. However, oddly enough, I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me recently asking me where the hell my posts have been. It’s kind of touching, especially when you think no one really reads this thing. So, in all honestly, I don’t have my mojo back yet. But, I am working on it, and I’m going to look at this post as a fresh start! Enjoy. ;]

I was way sad because I had planned to wear this dress to a Metallica concert, but it didn’t arrive in time. Which ended up being totally fine because the concert was outside and it was miserably cold for May! This dress would have been perfect for the occasion though… so just imagine I wore it. Also! You should probably grab one for yourself because it really is the perfect dress to rock out in.

Listen guys I know I have an addiction to aviators but these are so badass! And they were only $22 at Zara. So I mean… obviously I had to have them. They make me feel like a cop, ha! Feeling Grey

Yesterday was the first day of spring and there is still slushy, dirty, gross piles of snow all over NYC. Yum! It doesn’t feel very springy yet…so I’m trying to be patient, but we have had a couple days here and there the past month where you could get away with bare legs and I took full advantage!

I love this dress because it’s insanely comfortable. I’m all about those t-shirt and sweater style dresses. This one in particular fits like a glove but it doesn’t suffocate me, ya know? What could be better than that? It was supposed to be warm the day I took these pictures… but when you get down by the beach it was FREEZING. Hence the weird faces in half these photos.. I was shivering, haha.

I am HOPING (fingers crossed!) that is is almost time to ditch the pants and jeans and whatever else all together and wear nothing but skirts and dresses on the blog soon. That really puts me in my happy place. Happy spring, guys!

Black Tie Optional

I can’t tell you guys how long I have wanted to a tuxedo dress. I first saw blogger Brooklyn Blonde wearing one and I nearly melted. She looked amazing. I quickly reminded myself that not everyone looks as good in certain things as others, and I certainly wouldn’t look as great in anything she wears, the tuxedo dress is a tough trend to pull off as it is… however! I spotted this one from Closet London and threw caution to the wind. Now it’s a part of Closet Rachel (see what I did there? hah!) and I love it! What do you guys think?

I love this dress because you can never have too many LBD’s and but after a while they all kinda look the same. Obvi, as I’ve already said, I’m pretty much in love with the tuxedo-style detailing. It’s Market Week at work (again) and I think I might have to throw this on for the occasion.

I threw the belt on to cinch the waist a little bit and add a bit of color but to be honest it doesn’t necessarily need it. The dress fits like a glove. It may run a tiny bit on the smaller side but not by much… I think going the next size up would be too much room. Just an FYI. :] Hope y’all had a great weekend! Stay warm!

Hello 29!

Guess what ya’ll!? It’s MY BIRTHDAY! Holllllaaaaa! To celebrate I’m getting super sparkly and super sassy in my blog post today. Check it!

I LOVE THIS DRESS. !!!! I feel like a sexy little mermaid when I put it on, haha. I’m going to Liberty Science Center After Dark tonight with my best friends to celebrate my birthday so I’m going to be wandering around the museum and doing the climbing wall and touch tunnel and whatnot… but if I wasn’t… I’d be wearing this out tonight. It’s the perfect little party dress! Oh yeah and if it wasn’t 20 degrees outside. What is that madness?! Holy winter. Perhaps I’ll get to wear it on New Years Eve?

So… I’m going to get a little deep with you guys for a hot minute. The past year of my life has been the most challenging thus far. There is no manual that comes with “adulting.” No one has the answers… no one can tell you what to do when all of the sudden your life turns to shit. I have yet to have the mental breakdown I think I deserve. I have somehow, surprisingly kept my cool this year. That being said, things have not gotten any easier, nor do they look like they are going to anytime soon. So I’m setting some goals for the next year to make sure I can continue to keep my cool. Screw Near Years Resolutions… what better time to start changing your life than now, am I right? My first priority is going to be..wait for it… MYSELF! I have a habit of putting other people and their needs before my own. Obviously this excludes my babies. Once you have kids you’re never quite a priority anymore, hah. But in all honesty, I have a hard time saying no. I’m always afraid people are going to be disappointed in me if I don’t come through for something. So my first change will just be to put myself first. Sometimes you have to recharge your own batteries before you can be there for anyone else. Next, I’m going to be healthier, in general. I enjoy working out… I don’t smoke.. I’m don’t drink all that much… eating healthy though? Not my thang. I try, but I mean… why deprive myself? BUT! I’ve already started cutting out my morning bagel (I literally had one every day on the way to work, no lie) and I gotta tell ya, it feels good! Anyway, I’m going to work harder, be more passionate, take myself more seriously and create a life for me and my girls we can all be proud of. Wish me luck guys. :] And cheers to YOU! Post Thanksgiving Baggy Sweater

On Thanksgiving I will only wear a loose fitting dress or leggings… or casual eating pants, as I call them. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year for two reasons: it’s one of the few holidays left where my whole family still gets together, and the FOOD! I could live off of mashed sweet potatoes, for real. Unfortunately, for the few days following the gluttony, it’s hard to shove myself into tight fitting clothes. These over the knee socks are my new jam. I bought three different pairs from Forever21 and I can’t stop wearing them. I bought a black pair to wear with my taupe Chinese Laundry OTK boots, and this pair, and a deep burgundy color. I love the way they peek out over the top of these boots. So cute! I had another special guest with me on this shoot. I can’t get enough of my little ham!

I’m a 90’s Chick

I was the pink Power Ranger three years in a row for Halloween. Kimberly was my spirit animal. A few years back Forever21 carried a few different t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring some throwback shows and I grabbed this one without even really looking at it. It was a crew neck sweatshirt, which I didn’t love, so when I got it home I cut off the collar to make it an off the shoulder sweater. A little DIY up in this bitch, and I pretty much wear it once a week.

I rented these sunglasses last year from Shop Ditto and last week I decided I couldn’t live without them anymore… so I bought myself a pair to own and keep forever. Reunited and it feels so goooooood.

Normally I pair this sweatshirt with leggings when I want to be super comfortable and casual, or distressed boyfriend jeans, but to dress it up a bit I love pairing it with a skirt & heels. Normally during the summer months I wear it with a little white skirt, but that seemed a little too springy for the weather. The top is waaaaay old, but I linked to a similar graphic sweatshirt above!

Mini Bell Sleeves

I’m not over the off the shoulder look yet. I get that it’s a more spring and summer appropriate style, but throw on a leather jacket and some high boots and you’ve got yourself a fall look right here. Luckily, it’s been warm enough lately for me to wear this little striped dress as is!

With the acceptation of Hurricane Matthew’s overflow of rain the past few days, it had been relatively nice out around here. During the day it’s nice and warm in the sun, the perfect weather for this dress. I picked this dress because of the color, first. I really don’t own a whole lot of gray. It’s either black, or white. There has been no in-between. I wanted to try something different. And of course, I love the off the shoulder trend and I own nothing with bell sleeves! So it’s a win-win all around.

This choker gives me liiiiiiiiiiiife. I literally try to wear it as often as possible. I love that it’s more bold than any other choker I own, it’s so fun. I’ve started wearing Schiap from NARS on the reg again. It was my summer color last year, but I tried to wear less lipstick this summer (honestly it’s a pain in the butt to keep up with hah) but I forgot how much I loved this shade. Much like this choker I’m trying to work this lipstick into every outfit these days.
