Guess Who’s Back? Back Again.

Rachel’s back. Tell a friend! Just kidding… but not really because I am back on the blog after months off and you really should tell a friend to come check it out. :] I’ve taken a few months to myself to basically get my shit in order, for lack of better terms. In every aspect of my life, not just blogging, but including blogging. I had to kind of remove myself from everything to be able to start fresh, and I didn’t have the energy or focus, or passion really, to put into my website anymore. I’m happy to say I am back and feeling recharged and better than ever. So here we are, let’s dive right in!

My poor little love. She has been sick for weeks now! She is basically fine now, but has one of those coughs that will not go away no matter what. Aren’t those the most frustrating?! She actually came home from school early this day, and you can see it in her eyes. Meanwhile she refuses to sit out of pictures, lol. Please ignore the obvious stains on her dress. She realized she had a dress that matched mine and insisted on wearing it with me, even if she had to take it out of her hamper. Listen guys, if you’re a parent you know, you have to pick your battles. This was one I did not have the energy to fight. So here she is, back on the blog, sick and wearing a dirty dress. But it made her day so what-ev-er!

IMG_1633IMG_1632IMG_1631IMG_1624

I showed this outfit on my Instagam before it landed on the blog and a friend of mine messaged me saying she had a similar jacket forever but never wears it because she was unsure how to style it. Let it be known that any day it’s not absolutely freezing or nasty out I am wearing this jacket. I wear it with little dresses, as shown above, or with black skinny jeans and booties. You’re probably going to see it on the blog a bunch moving forward. Sorry not sorry. Another thing you’re going to see me wear as a repeat offender; this hat! I haven’t taken it off since I bought it. I love it so much I’m considering getting the yellow one for spring.

So I will be doing a few things differently on the blog now. I used to incorporate a lot more content before it became just a personal style blog. I might throw in some more beauty posts, more mom stuff… maybe even some recipes again. We’ll see! If there is anything you guys want to see more of be sure to leave a comment and let me know!

Check Please

Typically this time of year on the East coast I would not be able to walk around in skirts or dresses without some serious layering action, but with this mild winter we have been experiencing thus far I’ve been able to re-wear some of my favorite fall pieces.

I am trying not to enjoy the weather we have been having too much because I know a terribly cold winter is really just around the corner. It’s going to be bitter and awful… I’m really not looking forward to it, ha. We’ve been so spoiled but at the same time it’s kind of hard to get in the holiday spirit around here, isn’t it? Is this how people on the West Coast feel? Like, how do you get excited for a snowy Christmas when you can go out and about in a t-shirt and jeans? It’s strange!

IMG_9726IMG_9721IMG_9723

Anyway! I’m really into this skirt. I used to stay far, far away from anything with a print because they can be really unflattering when you’re curvy like myself, but I’ve been trying to teach myself to embrace that shit lately. Lucky for me, this skirt seemed to hug all of the right places instead of pointing out my large hips and thighs. It’s high waisted so in the warmer months I can pair it with a cute crop top or light t-shirt. Point being, it’s one of those items you can wear over and over again!

Street Art Style

I don’t know when this became a thing, but all over Monmouth County there is amazing, captivating art work being done on the sides of almost every building. Asbury is  littered with different art from tiny little decals you might not even notice to giant murals decorating the sides of the tallest buildings. Long Branch started to do the same thing a couple years back, then hit a lull, and now it seems as though they’re jumping on board again. I love it. Every time I drive through town there is something new to see, much like this dope ass mural we stopped to take some pictures in front of.

As usual! Use my code THERACHELROSS at ditto.com to get your first month subscription to designer eyewear fo’ free! I’m addicted to this website, as I’ve mentioned 1,000,000 million times, no exaggeration. For $24 a month you can borrow from a variety of different name brand designer sunglasses and there are few things in life I enjoy more than borrowing something to add to my wardrobe without the commitment of buying it, ha. IMG_8274IMG_8279IMG_8280

This is the outfit I wore to that concert a few weeks back when I mentioned I had worn these boots all night with zero complaints. I normally wear them with mini dresses but throwing them on over leather leggings looks pretty phenomenal as well. I made the mistake of wearing these leggings while pregnant with Kennedy so I kind of stretched them out a bit. I think it may be time to get myself a few pair, ha.

So apparently this tank top was on sale and is no longer available, and I can’t find this flannel on Forever21’s website anymore either. womp womp. I’ve linked to similar styles above in the outfit description. Forever21 does have very similar styles available, exact colors and whatnot, however, it happens to be in the mens section. Which is fine. Flannels are usually made to fit a little looser anyway, so this is one item you can definitely shop from your guy’s closet, just choose a smaller size of course, and you’re good to go!

Back in Black

If I were a big celebrity in the pages of People Style Watch and I was in the “I really love my…” section, it would definitely be with these boots. I seriously have not been able to stop wearing them, but I’m not mad at it. I think the thing that really gets me about these beauties is how comfortable they are. I wore them to a concert last weekend, standing the entire time, and then out after and never once stopped to think to myself how uncomfortable I was. They are worth every penny guys, promise.

This dress makes me want to twirl around… which is probably why they call it the ballerina dress, I’m sure. Fun fact, this is also the first wrap dress I have ever owned. Quite shocking but now I feel like a grownup, ha. I love layering on this cozy cardigan for warmth and to add a bit of a casual vibe to the ensemble.

I went on a crazy shopping spree at Urban Outfitters last weekend and this sweater and dress were two of my favorite purchases. The cardigan has been a staple of my wardrobe every single day since I bought it, I kid you not. The dress comes in a few other prints which are deliciously boho and flawless for fall. With the amazing weather we have been having lately simply throwing on over the knee boots with my favorite mini dress has been a uniform lately. Throw on a cozy cardigan when the sun goes down and you’re good to go!

The Craft

So today I’m giving you guys a tour of my humble abode! Just kidding. I wish! I drive down Ocean Ave almost every, if not every day and this one house in particular has always stuck out to me… for whatever reason I am so drawn to it. I figured this would be a pretty fun place to snap a few quick pics. And by quick I do mean quick as we soon realized there were surveillance cameras following our every move… haha!

I’m channeling the vibes from one of my all time favorite movies with this outfit; The Craft. If you were a part of my generation when this movie came out it was probably one of your favorites, or it should be. Raise your hand if you went out to a Funk & Standard (or some kind of novelty shop) and spent your entire allowance on witchcraft books. I may or may not have put a few spells on the mean girls in my middle school. Anyway… I loved the wardrobe in that movie. So. Much. Black. My kinda girls!

IMG_9591 IMG_9594 IMG_9596 IMG_9597 IMG_9598

I wore this out for a night on the town with my bestie. It’s the kind of outfit that just grabs attention when you walk into a room. For so long I felt like I could only wear these boots for certain occasions, like… almost never, but I have recently stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to wear these more often. I maybe even buy clothes to go with the boots now so I can wear them more, hah. But I mean seriously, look at them, can ya blame me?
