A Little Rusty

We had a little taste of spring weather over the weekend and I’m not going to lie to you… it made me down right giddy. There was something about walking outside and not immediately wishing you were back indoors that put me in a marvelous mood for 3 days straight, so I threw on this little rust-colored lace up dress to celebrate.

I actually wore this exact outfit to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. It was unseasonably warm for November so I took advantage. I usually opt to wear these over the knee boots as an alternative to pants when it’s not absolutely freezing outside and the extra long over the knee socks added a little warmth as well!

I feel like we can see the light! The season of bare legs is upon us, guys! And while I love my layers I seriously can’t wait to shed them and start buying nothing but little sun dresses and sandals!

Laid Back Lace

I’m all about those pieces that can be dressed up or dressed down with just the right accessories and this little lace embellished dress fits the bill.

You know nothing John Snow…… Ok sorry just had to get that out. LOL. I always feel like I belong on Game of Thrones when I wear this coat. Drop me off at the Wall for a little while… I wouldn’t be mad at it. Anyway! Back to the dress. If you can’t tell from the close ups, it’s t-shirt material, which is an instant win for me. So it’s super comfortable but the lace detail takes it up a notch in the looks category, which brings me back to my ‘dress it up or down’ point. Here I’ve dressed it up with the boots, but it could easily be worn dressed down with high top sneakers and a baseball hat.

Do you guys loooooove this bolo? Plot twist: I made it myself! They are so insanely easy to make, and relatively cheap compared to buying one in stores. Perhaps I’ll do a DIY blog post on it sometime soon?img_4221img_4217img_4215img_4214img_4210

I don’t know about y’all but I’m sure over this crappy weather we’ve been having. Although, I can’t really complain because it’s only snowed twice this year, which is pretty wild for New Jersey. HOWEVER. It has been cold and rainy and windy and that kind of weather = NO blog pictures, guys. So yeah, I feel like complaining. On the other hand… February is almost half way over which means March is right around the corner and then it’s April so hello warm weather… almost! ;]

No Pants No Problem

I’ve said it over and over and over again, these boots give me LIFE. I think they’re probably the best thing Matt’s ever bought for me, and definitely the one gift I’ve actually gotten the most use out of. I did ask for another pair in another color for Christmas but I didn’t get it.. womp womp! HAH. I’ve tried on other over the knee boots but NONE have been as comfortable as these. I’ve walked laps around New York City in these boots, spent long nights at concerts standing and dancing the entire time in these boots, you name it, I’ve done it and I have not felt the need to complain once yet. Splurge on these if you splurge on anything in your life. They are so worth it.

I wore this outfit last month when we went into Asbury to see Grace Potter perform at the Paramount Theater. As I said, I was standing and dancing all night in these boots and did not have to limp back to my car after, hah.

I have so many flannel shirt dresses in my closet now. I love how comfortable and casual they are. They can also be worn open as a vest or buttoned up as a dress, as shown above. When it gets too cold I throw on leather leggings and ankle booties to create a different look that won’t freeze my butt off.

Check Please

Typically this time of year on the East coast I would not be able to walk around in skirts or dresses without some serious layering action, but with this mild winter we have been experiencing thus far I’ve been able to re-wear some of my favorite fall pieces.

I am trying not to enjoy the weather we have been having too much because I know a terribly cold winter is really just around the corner. It’s going to be bitter and awful… I’m really not looking forward to it, ha. We’ve been so spoiled but at the same time it’s kind of hard to get in the holiday spirit around here, isn’t it? Is this how people on the West Coast feel? Like, how do you get excited for a snowy Christmas when you can go out and about in a t-shirt and jeans? It’s strange!

IMG_9726IMG_9721IMG_9723

Anyway! I’m really into this skirt. I used to stay far, far away from anything with a print because they can be really unflattering when you’re curvy like myself, but I’ve been trying to teach myself to embrace that shit lately. Lucky for me, this skirt seemed to hug all of the right places instead of pointing out my large hips and thighs. It’s high waisted so in the warmer months I can pair it with a cute crop top or light t-shirt. Point being, it’s one of those items you can wear over and over again!

Wrap Me Up

So as you may have noticed in my last post, I detest winter coats. I really won’t wear them until I absolutely have to, so I’m always browsing stores for a practical alternative. I bought this poncho cardi two years ago on Black Friday at Forever21 and it’s usually one of my go-to’s when I want to be warm but not bulky.

This sweater may be sleeveless but it is SO warm. It’s oversized and cozy so as long as I have some warm layers on underneath I feel zero need to wear a big puffy winter coat. This sweater came in a variety of patterns and colors and looking back on it I should have bought one of each. womp womp. It also made a fantastic pair with this Sheinside turtleneck dress. This dress is so soft and comfortable it feels a little like cheating to even call it a dress, but we all know how much I loved my t-shirt dresses over the summer so this allows me to carry that trend all the way through the fall and winter.

IMG_0385IMG_0384IMG_0386

IMG_0243So when Matt asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I said these boots… in every color, haha. I can’t stop wearing them! They’re so damn comfortable and flattering and a great alternative to wearing actual pants I just find myself grabbing them every time I get dressed. I need to add at least one other color to my wardrobe so I can switch it up a little. It’s getting a tad repetitive on here, no? However! Stuart Weitzman can cost a pretty penny, and although it is worth every single one, I’ve linked to some similar styles for WAY cheaper above. Treat yo’self!

As If

Cher Horowitz is my spirit animal. I don’t know any girl that doesn’t wish she had a revolving closet that perfectly picked out outfits for them. I was a tad too young to dress like her the first time around, but when the 90’s came back around in the 2000’s I was stoked.

This was another bunch styled over the seriously warm weekend that seems completely irrelevant now. What a tease! I actually wore this outfit for my birthday dinner with Matt about a month ago and nearly froze to death. It was a pleasure to be able to wear this without chattering teeth for an accessory!

I literally can’t say enough good things about these boots. They are comfortable and seriously sexy. They dress up any outfit. I’ve worn these boots for an entire day before and didn’t feel the need to soak my feet in an ice bath after or wear flats for an entire week. If you are going to save your pennies for a pair of splurge-worthy shoes, it should be these or Valentino Rock Studs, which are equally as comfortable.

If you haven’t caught on yet, this is my new favorite bag. I’ll probably be using this pretty often until I get a new bag to obsess over, but until then, this is it. I’m looking forward to the spring when I can pair it with an ultra feminine sun dress!
