White Jean Baby

So I had a pretty long and stressful week. My youngest daughter had a pretty bad stomach bug, and we’ve recently made some changes to her diet so we were naive to believe it was just that. But alas, she had a nasty bug that lasted a couple days… and when she started feeling better, BOOM my older daughter wakes up at 4am throwing up. Oh but it doesn’t end there… I immediately get sick as I’m taking care of Char. My husband soon realizes he isn’t feeling so great either… aaaand the 3 of us have a sleepover on the couch at 4am, ha. Anyway, long story short… BEFORE I got hit with this bug and I thought my long and stressful week was going to end with Kennedy feeling better, I decided to chop off my hairs. So here’s the last post you’ll see with my long locks!

statement neck linea pelle grayson bar bag hollister brown leather jacket all whiteYou ever have one of those nights where you get dressed up and you’re stoked to go out but you don’t have any real plans, so you drive around trying to figure out something good but can’t come up with anything great so you pick up a pizza and just head home and watch movies until you pass out? Yeah. This was one of those nights, ha. They’re kind of the best though, aren’t they?

This necklace is from a small store in Naples that my cousin took me to on our girls getaway a few months back. I’ve blogged about it before and I finally asked her the name of the store, ha. It’s called The Best of Everything. So seriously, if you’re ever in Naples, find that store because this necklace was legit $14. I mean does it get any better than that?! No. The answer is no. Especially since I get more compliments on this necklace than I do on like anything else I own. Shout out to my cousin Molly for knowing me so well and taking me there! Also happy birthday Moll! <3

When in Doubt, Go Nude.

With your shoes, you pervs! Gosh! ;] There are just so many pro’s to wearing nude heels, and if you haven’t heard them all by now I just don’t know where you’ve been the past 3 years. I mostly love how they flatter and elongate your legs. And they really do go with just about everything. Win.

The light colors of this dress scream summer but the heaviness of the cotton make this garment perfect for cooler nights. Plus it has pockets! Who doesn’t love a dress or skirt with pockets? I wore it for a friend’s birthday dinner. When he invited us over I had the picture of a dinner party in my mind, who knows why, but I was definitely not picturing an outdoor summer BBQ… needless to say I was a tad over dressed, but who cares? Better to be over dressed than under, as they say!

photo 3-6 photo 4-1 photo 4-4 photo 5I’ll probably throw this dress into the usual rotation now. It was a fantastic find at the Gap! I always forget about that store but I’ve been stopping in there a lot lately to find dresses for my girls. They’ve got some fabulous pieces right now and the most amazing sale! I got a gorgeous white cotton sweater for the fall on sale for $4….no joke. Can’t wait to wear it!

THE Quintessential Maternity Outfit.

This outfit is the epitome of everything I hate about maternity wear…. and yet, here I am, wearing it! UGH. I just feel like every pregnant woman you ever see has this outfit on: maxi skirt, tank top, denim jacket… like no matter the season, summer, winter, that’s what they’re wearing. And do you know why? Because that’s really all maternity lines will make! I tried to not ever wear an outfit like this in protest, but alas, here I am. Being THAT girl.

This skirt is one of the last maternity items I have bought. I made a vow to myself to stop buying maternity clothes at a certain point because I really don’t need any more, ha! I was drawn to the print on the skirt, and even though I tried to stay away from wearing an outfit like this, the skirt sold me. It’s bright and fun and OH MY GOD, so comfortable! It’s not hard to see why all those pregnant women wear outfits like this.

image-74A key styling tip if you’re going to take the easy way out & wear THE maternity outfit like I am: statement pieces! To avoid looking like every other pregnant woman, throw on a statement necklace eye catching enough to make people forget the rest of your outfit, haha! A bold lip doesn’t hurt your case either. Ok but in all seriousness, this outfit is so comfortable and being that I’m due in about 2 weeks, I’m really all about the comfort right now, ya dig? signature

The Skull Society

My favorite (& most obvious) way to make my summer wardrobe last all year long is throwing tights under my dresses and sweaters over them. However, on a day like today when it’s nearly 60 degrees out, it doesn’t feel entirely necessary, but I do it anyway. If not for warmth then to hide my grossly pale skin. Summer, I need you!

IMG_0042The remnants of Christmas Past haunt this picture, and my house! It’s time to clean up all of our Christmas decorations for sure. I enjoy the time after Christmas because there are no real holidays left to decorate for. Time to relax…. in that sense anyway!

IMG_0037

This necklace is to die for! it’s one of my favorites, but I rarely wear it because I’m really picky about what I wear it with, hah. I’m trying to work it into my wardrobe more often, it doesn’t seem right not to.IMG_0052 IMG_0056 IMG_0059 IMG_0060 IMG_0066I snagged this dress last summer from H&M. For a summer style, I throw a metallic belt around the waist with a pair  of my best gladiator sandals and I’m off. Being able to utilize your wardrobe no matter the season is fabulous, especially when having weather like this! 60 and sunny one day, rainy and 30 the next. You don’t quite know what to do with your clothes. When all else fails, layer, layer, layer! Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas holiday! See you in the new year! Until then, kisses!

One Look 3 Ways: The Full Skirt

Doesn’t it seem like everyone tells you what you should be wearing these days? And don’t you kind of feel like a bum if you don’t run right out and buy it? Even if you know it’s 100% absolutely not the trend for you? I saw a tweet from Cosmo this morning that read “what to put in your closet and what to throw out of your closet for this summer!” What about next summer? What if next summer crop tops are the sign of the devil? Won’t you feel silly when that’s all you own? Anyway, my point is, don’t buy into trends. If something doesn’t make you feel like a god damn beauty queen, nix it! OR, style it your own way! If you don’t think you have the stomach for a crop top, throw it over a printed maxi dress. Layers baby! We love ’em. That’s kind of the point of this post, taking one item and styling it 3 different ways, because not everyone can pull off the trendiest looks! So here is how I would style a full skirt, from super casual, to kinda casual kinda dressy, to a night out.

Look One: Cashe.

DSC_3901 DSC_3902Strappy sandals and minimal accessories paired with a classic v-neck make this look so every day. Bonus points if you happen to have a headband laying around that perfectly matches your printed skirt like I did, ha!

Skirt: Forever21T-Shirt:  Victoria’s Secret | Sandals: Target [last season] | Headband: Forever21 [last season] | Earrings & Necklace: Roman & Sunstone

Look two: The One That Could Go Either Way…

DSC_3898 DSC_3897 DSC_3894 DSC_3892This look is fun because it’s kind of casual, but kind of dressy at the same time. This all depends on the accessories. Pair it with some flip flops and lose the necklace and it’s super casual, but the booties & statement neck kick it up a notch. It also incorporates everyone’s favorite thing: chambray! So fancy!

Skirt: Forever21Shirt: Urban Outfitters | Booties: Christian Louboutin | Necklace: Roman & Sunstone

Look Three: Date Night Ready

DSC_3891 DSC_3887 DSC_3884 DSC_3881Make this look more date night by going big on the makeup.. maybe a little smoky eye? Or a bright red pout. Heat Wave from NARS is the perfect eye-catching red! You could also throw your hair up into a chic top knot. The accessories definitely help this look too, anything with a little bling works here! These kinds of strappy heels are in right now and it makes me super happy because I love them!

Skirt: Forever21Shirt: H&M [old] | Heels: Cosmopolitan for JC PennyNecklace: Roman & Sunstone.

So there you have it babes, One look 3 ways! One of these is BOUND to work for you! Play with it and send me pictures! I’d love to see! Until next time, kisses!
