Girl’s Night Necessities

This past weekend I had the pleasure of getting to spend some much needed girl time with some of my sorority sisters from college! My “family” decided to get together for dinner & drinks (water for me of course) so the older girls could meet the newest members of our family. If you’re not in a sorority and have no idea what I’m referring to here, I apologize, ha.

IMG_0937Look who’s here! It’s Zorro! Who, along with his brother, decided to run away about 10 minutes after these pictures were taken. Luckily they didn’t go far, just explored our neighbor’s yard and what our house looks like from underneath it. We have an enormous wrap around porch that they thought would be fun to camp out under for about an hour. My husband and I sat outside in the pouring rain searching for these idiots for a long time. Thankfully they were fine and could be lured back into the house with bacon treats. However, I did have to re-do my hair and makeup before heading up north for dinner which made me super late. UGH. Having puppies is such a joy….. ;]

I’m obsessed with kimonos! I’m particularly drawn to them right now because they’re something I can wear all throughout my pregnancy since they don’t close in the front. They add so much style and a weird sense of elegance to any outfit. I love the colors and pattern of this one from Forever21. They have so many great ones it was hard to choose! IMG_0955_2 IMG_0957_2I’m really obsessed with these shoes! Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe are often on point when it comes to their shoe selection. They’re always good for fun styles or bright colors that absolutely will not break your bank. However, I feel the need to mention, these were entirely uncomfortable to wear at first. They’re the kind of shoes that need a lot of breaking in, ha, but they get the job done. Plus they’re like the perfect combination between booties and heels. Anywho!  Dinner was a blast, it’s so much fun catching up and pretending I’m in college again, and it’s always good to have a legit reason to dress up, isn’t it? ;]

A Week in Leather || Day 2

Aloha! I’ll be continuing my looks in leather with this dressed up look. I kind of feel like this is the mullet of outfits. If you see it from the waist up it looks a little like business attire, but then from the waist down, BOOM, party time.

The lip color is my newest obsession, you’ll see me wearing it a lot. It’s a velvet matte lip pencil from NARS in the shade of “Dragon Girl.” It’s hottttttt. IMG_0599 IMG_0602 IMG_0604With an outfit like this I like to keep the accessories fairly simple. Not too many statement pieces since the shoes really call some major attention. These shoes are my pride and joy, and I’ve only gotten to wear them a hand full of times! My husband bought me different Lubes for Christmas last year which were nice, but they weren’t very me. So I exchanged them for these babies! However, it was winter, they’re open-toe suede, I couldn’t wear them until it got warmer. They’re about 6 inches high, so I can’t really wear them when I need to cart my daughter around, I’d never take that chance! But I do wear them for date nights as often as I can, ha!

Well that’s all for today folks! Another look with liquid leggings from Bebe. This is a top I got from H&M maternity for my last pregnancy. It seems to have shrunk a tad over the years, but I love the detailing around the neckline & the polkadots! It’s adorbs. Normally I might wear this with black or even red skinny jeans. Hope you dig it!

Thank goodness I shot all these photos for my blog last week before the temps decided to drop into a black hole of coldness. Today is the first day it has started to warm up, and naturally our heat breaks. Fabulous, just fabulous! So it still feels like a polar vortex in my humble, frigid, abode. Anywho, I digress. Let’s talk about one of my favorite articles of clothing today, leather leggings!

Leather leggings have been my go-to bottoms lately. I love the way they can dress up any outfit. I can throw a big chunky sweater over these and instantly feel a little classier than I would if I were just wearing “regular” leggings. They just add a little edge to an outfit that would otherwise look pretty……normal.

These shoes are my pride and joy. My husband buys me something every year on his birthday. I think he’s uncomfortable with getting gifts… but these were his 27th birthday present to me. Gorgeous, to die for, Giuseppe Zanotti’s! They’re a bit challenging to walk in.. they don’t look it, but they’re SUPER high and the arch is absurd. I added a Dr. Schoul’s insert for heels and it makes an incredible difference! However, these will not be a pair of heels I wear until I’m 8 months pregnant. May get 2 or 3 more wears out of them before it’s time to retire until after the baby arrives. IMG_0245_2 IMG_0252_2 IMG_0256_2 IMG_0257 IMG_0260_2

I can’t get away from the color red! Blues and reds seem to be what I keep gravitating towards lately. I keep telling myself I need to play with more color. If you look at my closet and my shoe collection, there isn’t too much excitement going on there in the world of color. I want to start with shoes, I want a pair of bright pink pumps. What I’ll wear with them is to be determined, ha! Well I hope as the temperatures start to warm up you guys are warming up too! I’ve had about enough of the cold. BUT! Every day it’s cold is another day closer to warmer temps, so let’s just take comfort in that!
