Flannel: My 2nd Favorite F Word

If you follow me on Twitter, or know me in real life you can probably guess what my first favorite F word is… ;] However, flannel is a close second. I live in flannel. If you take a peek inside my closet it closely resembles that of Doug Funny’s, but instead of white t-shirts, sweater vests, and khaki shorts you can find a butt load of flannel.

I found these boots at the end of last summer when the fringe trend was just about to peak. I was pregnant with Kennedy so I wasn’t about to wear anything fringy but I desperately wanted something for my own wardrobe. I found these boots and they seemed damn near perfect. They are outstandingly comfortable and cute, so that’s a plus.

I am seriously dying over this weather! Well, the weather we were having… it’s apparently going to start snowing up in this bitch soon and I’m only slightly looking forward to it. I want it to wait to snow until after my birthday next month so I can use my new snow boots to play outside with my kids! I don’t know for a fact that I’m getting them… but if anyone reading this is buying me a birthday present, I want Sorel boots. Ok thanks bye.

These Boots Were Made for Strutting

These boots are basically the puppies in the window that you walk by every single day and yearn to take home but know it’s a bad, bad idea. Except, in this case, it was a good, good idea. I have never worn more comfortable, flattering, amazing boots ever. A month or so ago I wore this exact shirt dress and said I thought it would look amazing with a pair of these Stuart Weiztman OTK boots, and yup, was I right!

IMG_5856The last time I wore this flannel dress from Forever21 I was perusing the city for a quick anniversary getaway weekend. I knew there was going to be a lot of wandering and exploring so I opted to wear it with converse sneaks instead of any fancy footwear. This time around, I decided to ditch the comfortable and sensible footwear and have a little more fun. These boots are an investment because they can really be worn with a variety of things. Flouncy skirts, skinny jeans, leather leggings, shirt dresses, they all look pretty fantastic with these boots.

You ever have one of those days where no matter WHAT you do to your hair you just cannot seem to get it to cooperate? This was one of those days. Up, down, under a hat, nothing I did made it “work.” You go home, curl it thinking that’ll take care of the frizzy unruliness, but we’re only fooling ourselves. Days like that call for tight, tight top knots or sleek braids, am I right?

Case and point: insane hair ^ ^ ^ ^ … I mean, it wasn’t even windy this day. ::sigh:: IMG_5863IMG_5839 IMG_5840

DSC_3998Shirt dresses, flannel, and boots are 3 of my favorite things about cooler weather. I’ve already gushed over this dress in my previous post, but they are so easy because they’re basically a one stop shop when it comes to getting dressed every day. If the weather is warm, a shirt dress is all you need. If the weather is cooler, throw on tights or boots like I did here with a leather jacket and boom, you’re good to go. What could be better?

The LBD with a Little Twist!

Not too long ago I was approached by a maternity company to feature one of their items on my blog. There was just one problem, I wasn’t pregnant anymore. Those days had come and gone. I was all set to decline their request, when their incredibly helpful and accommodating staff informed me that they had a ton of pieces that could be worn before, during, and after your pregnancy! I picked out a couple dresses and they actually had an employee try them on to see which ones worked best for a non-pregnant body! I mean, how amazing is that? With their help I have discovered my new favorite LBD, just in time for the upcoming holiday seasons!

Is this not the most gorgeous maternity dress you’ve ever seen? Maybe I’m a little bias, but I love it! The 3/4 sleeves are key for the fickle fall temperatures, but the material is thick to keep you nice and toasty! Not to mention the full striped skirt. So on trend!

The best thing about this garment is its wearability. Slip on an oversized sweater to make it more casual, a moto jacket to make it more edgy, or a baby bump to make it more practical, ha ha ha! But seriously. I’m not sure if I’m done having babies yet, so a dress like this is perfect for me! I won’t have to pack it away for my next pregnancy. HOORAY.

SO GUESS WHAT GUYS! The always amazing guys behind Mavatar have officially stepped up their awesomeness game. Things are Looking Bright

I have way too many garments in my closet that look like I’m either going to a party at Hot Topic, or a funeral. They’re all very fashionable, of course, BUT I needed some more color in my life. Especially for this god awful hot summer we’re having!

When I stumbled upon this blouse last summer I instantly fell in love. I am kind of a sucker for anything a little bit more…. edgy? The tiny skull print is a dime a dozen thanks to brands like McQueen & Skull Cashmere, but this was vibrant, bold, colorful, and different. Had to have it! I usually wear it with white pants but I opted for a full skirt in a bright hue for a refreshing little change.

My love affair with mirrored shades continues. Do you think they have support groups for people like me? ;] Side note: I’m so over my 4th of July mani. I knew it was a terrible idea as it was happening. My next gel manicure will be a simple one. Mark my words!

I love this outfit for a little date night! There is something really lovely and romantic about a full skirt, isn’t there? Apparently the bandage look is out. I’m ok with that (it was an awful trend for my legs! ha) Full skirts are in and I’m 100% on board with it. If you’re heading out for a first date or just getting a night off without the kids (like me) go for a full skirt. They’re flattering and fun and so versatile! You can literally pair them with just about anything! Browse my first date outfit picks in my Mavatar collection below!

Casual Chic

Casual Chic… is there anything better? Nothing makes me happier than being somewhat dressed up but still comfortable. It’s like the unicorn of fashion.

This top has become one of my go-to’s. It’s surprisingly versatile. I’ve worn it with everything from these boyfriend jeans, to a hot pink full skirt, to a patterned flowy skirt, to white shorts. It’s light and comfortable but the silk material adds a touch of class. Boyfriend jeans are comfortable for obvious reasons, of course. Pairing them with heels is the best way to dress them up. These heels are the most comfortable Louboutins I own. These shoes are not made for women with a wider foot, these are probably the only pair that doesn’t make my toes cry tears of blood.

Love hanging out with my little babe. We have a daily routine of checking on the flowers that trace our house. She loves to pick them for me… ain’t she the cutest? :]IMG_6350

This outfit is kind of perfect for a day-to-night look. For the day I wore it with casual sandals, and transitioned into the night time look by throwing on heels before heading off to dinner and drinks with friends. Is anyone else having a major moment with stripes, or is it just me? Check out more of my striped favorites and light tanks with my Mavatar collection!

Mini Fashionista Fridays: The Romper

No matter your age, little girl or full blown adult, rompers and jumpsuits should be a wardrobe staple. Aside from the fact that they can be a bit cumbersome to go to the bathroom in, they’re flattering and fun when you find the right one. I live in rompers during the summer, and so does my daughter.

I fell in love with this ‘playsuit’ (which is apparently what “adults” call jumpsuits for kids)  as soon as I saw it! The print is so dead on for spring, and the fact that they’re long pants instead of shorts allows her to wear it when it’s a little cooler out without having to layer up. I’ve picked out a few of my favorite rompers for your little fashionista and you can shop the whole collection with your Mavatar app below! Happy shopping!

Fashion for your little Fashionista

For a very long time now a lot of people have been telling me to put Charlotte on my blog. I have very high standards for what my daughter (soon to be daughters) wear. I tell people when they’re shopping for her: think of me… would I wear it? Don’t get me wrong, she loves her Minnie Mouse sweatshirts and Hello Kitty sneakers, and I’ll throw those on her (on rainy days when we don’t plan on leaving the house at all), just kidding! Kind of. But seriously, here’s the thing… I don’t want my kid to look like a slob, that’s all. And there are SO many cute and affordable clothes for young kids now, why not dress them to impress as well? Oh but a quick disclaimer: there is absolutely nothing I can do about her insane hair. It’s deep in the “awkward” phase, so, ignore that.

This dress was an insane score from H&M. It was only four dollars! So amazing. I’m very into shopping on a budget for Char, unless it’s for a special occasion. I am very aware that she’s a toddler and her clothes are not going to last as long as I’d like them to. Target, H&M, Old Navy, Babies R’ Us, and the outlets have amazing steals for my little boog. She’s super into wearing jewelry lately as well so I always let her browse through my jewelry boxes when we’re getting ready for the day. This necklace was perfect for the occasion!image

These photos were taken on our Mother’s Day outing to the beach! It was literally the most perfect day. We wore little dresses, combed the beach for shells, splashed around in the water, and soaked up LOTS of sun! Charlotte hates the sand every time we go to the beach. She walks very slowly and waddles a little bit, like my great grandmother or a cat on wet grass for the first time, it’s quite comical. She gets used to it after a while though and then it’s almost impossible to get her to leave!

This is also the perfect time to tell you guys about my new favorite shopping app: Mavatar. Have you guys heard about it? All you do is sign up once and then while you shop online (at certain, amazing retailers) it combs the web for the best coupon codes available. It’s seriously amazing, I’m addicted to it! I’ve put together a few of my favorite spring dresses for little girls and you can shop my whole collection through Mavatar below! Enjoy and happy shopping!
