Dare to Wear Horizontal Stripes!

A pregnant woman in horizontal stripes? It just goes against all the laws of fashion, and nature. But if you’ve learned one thing from my blog it should be this: EMBRACE YOUR BUMP! While shopping post-holiday sales at a Pea in the Pod I came across this amazing BCBG dress. I am not entirely sure if this is actually a maternity dress or they’re just marketing it as one because of the stretchy, forgiving material, but I’m into it! [forgive the quality of these pictures, they were just selfies, not intended for a blog post! ha]

Me and the hubs before our little date night! My mother and father have taken it upon themselves to put a little rule in place: they get Charlotte one night of the week, EVERY week. We don’t even discuss it, it’s just understood. And if Matt and I have nothing on the agenda, they take Charlotte anyway. I really can’t complain, we get a complimentary date night every week, whether we want it or not, whether we leave the house or not! hah

IMG_7860How gorgeous are these accessories? I have a little bit of an obsession with Roman Luxe. I admit it! I have to force myself to switch it up with other accessories… every now and then! Stay warm today my friends and do not forget about this amazing giveaway we have going on! Hats & Heels

My number one suggestion to pregnant women; embrace your belly! My first pregnancy I really fought buying maternity clothes. It is SO hard to find cute maternity clothes after all, and I was a young mom, I didn’t want to dress like an old maid just yet. But, when I finally caved and bought my first pair of elastic waist jeans I thought I had died and gone to fashion heaven. While they weren’t the most stylish clothes in the world, they were so comfortable it was insane. This time around I decided I was going to splurge a little on some better quality maternity clothes and I can mix and match with the pieces I acquired last time.

IMG_0140 IMG_0139Believe it or not, every single item of clothing pictured here is maternity! I splurged on J Brands from a Pea in the Pod and snagged this sweater on sale because I figured it would look great even when I’m not pregnant. Maternity jeans with elastic where the pockets should be, rather than with the extra stretchy fabric that goes over the bump are great for the beginning of your pregnancy. They’re great for when you really really just cannot squeeze yourself into your regular jeans any longer, no matter how hard you try (I used an elastic band to close my jeans for a long time during my first pregnancy). Your belly is still small enough to not necessarily need all of the extra support and these sit under the bump comfortably.

IMG_0150_2 IMG_0153_2 IMG_0154 IMG_0157 IMG_0163I’m sporting another new baby here, Chanel. A birthday & Christmas present from the hubs. I was sooooo against having a white bag for a long time, especially a Chanel, because I know how dirty they can get. However, when my husband took me to the store and told me to pick one out, I instantly gravitated towards the white one. (After, of course, I picked out a 29 THOUSAND dollar red alligator skin flap bag… whoops…maybe next year, right babe? HA). It looked so pretty with what I was wearing at the time and all I could think of was how amazing it will look in the winter AND the summer. Had to have it.

A lot of older women, or women who have never been pregnant, find it crazy that women like me wear heels throughout my pregnancy. However, let me just say two things. 1. I will never ever give up my heels, ever. I don’t walk around in 6 inch Louboutins every day, but if I am going somewhere where I have to dress up, 9 months pregnant or not, I’m throwing on SOME variation of heels. And 2. Sometimes pregnancy can take a toll on your lower back and believe it or not, the extra support heels can give makes a crazy difference. If you’re feet don’t swell like Kim K’s (that chick should not have been in heels as long as she was) they can actually be much more comfortable than flats! Espadrilles in the summer are a god send! IMG_0182_2

I have a video on my YouTube channel about the do’s & don’ts of shopping for maternity clothes & I’ll share that with ya’ll tomorrow! This time around I’m definitely taking my own advice, and hopefully it can help some of my readers out as well! Until next time, kisses!

Shopping for Maternity Clothes 101

Hello my loves! So I decided to make this video because when I first got pregnant I was super stoked about shopping for maternity clothes. I mean, let’s face it, it’s just an excuse to go shopping, right? I needed clothes I can fit into! The hubs can’t argue with that, haha. But to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. It seems like a pretty simple concept, but it’s not. All maternity clothes fit differently, some better than others. These are just a few of my do’s and dont’s for young first time moms like me. I hope you find these tips helpful! Let me know if you guys have any questions. Peace, loves.

Thank god for heat!

I would honestly have to say the worst part of being pregnant is the wardrobe… or lack there of. It seems unfair to have to pay for a whole new wardrobe when you’re only going to be wearing it for a few months. Maternity clothes are freaking expensive! And when you’re 24 and most mom clothes are geared towards, like, 30 year old women, it’s just not fun. There’s not a whole lot out there to choose from that I can actually afford. I live in leggings and either solid, simple maternity tops, or oversized, billowy tops. I only have a few pieces that are actually maternity clothes. Although I do feel inclined to shout out to my favorite place, H&M, for putting their maternity line in some of their stores. I’ve snagged a few of their tops, but they have a limited selection as well. Now please, just make more! K thanks. :]

This week we are experiencing some amazingly warm weather in NJ and I could not be happier. Summer time is rapidly approaching which means only one thing: maxi dresses! That is the one item of clothing I can actually wear now that I wore before I was pregnant. Whoever invented those things deserves a big wet kiss, I lerv you!

The hubs got home early last night and we decided to bbq a little bit since it was still so nice out. Here’s my “it’s 70 degrees in NJ in March and I’m 6 months pregnant” outfit.

Jacket: Express, Dress: Mossimo for Target
Sunglasses: Ray-Bans, Earrings: Molly and Zoe, Bracelets: (left hand) Molly & Zoe, (right hand) wrap bracelet from Aruba.

What do you guys think? Like my look? I think I’ll post some some other preggers outfits for those young mamma’s-to-be out there soon. It’s tough being young, pregnant, and stylish! It’s a hard life we live, yo!
