All Business in the New Year

One thing I have had on my style bucket list this past year was a leather pencil skirt. I’ve honestly been trying to snag myself one for an absurdly long time now and thanks to Shein my dreams have finally come true! I love the edge that leather ads to this otherwise everyday look. img_4726-2

Thank god for this little faux fur coat because when I tell you it was COLD the day we shot this look, it was COLD. Like, take a break between shots to warm up your fingers and toes, cold. This coat keeps me warm and toasty every time I wear it!

I have always wanted a leather pencil skirt for the office. I’ve never been one to wear simple black dress pants and a button up to work… snore, so I’m always looking for a way to elevate my look. This little pencil skirt is a new favorite of mine!

Actually I wore this shirt on my birthday outing to Liberty Science Center! That night I paired it with faux leather pants and my Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots. And I must say… I legit did the climbing wall in my high heel boots! Crushed it. So yeah, I have a thing for pairing this top with leather bottoms. They were, how you say, made for each other! ;]

So guys! I hope you all had a happy and healthy holiday season! I took the week between Christmas and New Years off and, honestly, I’m glad to be back at work! I was starting to forget what day it was… who I was… I was like 2 more days off away from not showering anymore, you know? Getting back into the swing of things feels good! Did you set any goals for the new year? Or New Years Resolutions? I want to cut out sugar… but that’s not realistic. So I’m just going to try to eat as healthy as possible as often as possible! ALSO. I gave up alcohol. I’m going to cut that out, and soda, and start eating “clean-ish” while working out 4-6 days a week and see what my body can do! I’m 2 days in for all of the above and I feel good! Talk to me in like a week… we’ll see where I’m at. HAH.

I’m a 90’s Chick

I was the pink Power Ranger three years in a row for Halloween. Kimberly was my spirit animal. A few years back Forever21 carried a few different t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring some throwback shows and I grabbed this one without even really looking at it. It was a crew neck sweatshirt, which I didn’t love, so when I got it home I cut off the collar to make it an off the shoulder sweater. A little DIY up in this bitch, and I pretty much wear it once a week.

I rented these sunglasses last year from Shop Ditto and last week I decided I couldn’t live without them anymore… so I bought myself a pair to own and keep forever. Reunited and it feels so goooooood.

Normally I pair this sweatshirt with leggings when I want to be super comfortable and casual, or distressed boyfriend jeans, but to dress it up a bit I love pairing it with a skirt & heels. Normally during the summer months I wear it with a little white skirt, but that seemed a little too springy for the weather. The top is waaaaay old, but I linked to a similar graphic sweatshirt above!

Groove is in the Stripes

Say hello to the high slit, again! I’m telling you guys, I’m obsessed. I like this dress in particular because I feel like it’s going to be a staple piece I will be able to wear all year round. When it gets a little cooler I’ll be stoked to throw this on with my Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots… but I don’t even wanna go there mentally right now because I’m enjoying this warm weather.

One thing I will say about this dress, the slit is sometimes a little too high, and it is very much see-through. So if you don’t have the nude, second skin type granny panties from Victoria’s Secret or something, throw this on with some leather leggings just to be safe.

Now that it’s warmer I’m starting to get a little more motivated to do some blogging. I fell into a seasonal blog depression and just could not force myself to do it, hah. The sunshine and warm weather makes me giddy and I get excited to get out and take pictures. So PLEASE for the love of god, Mother Nature, don’t screw this up!

I adore these sunglasses! They are so bright and fun! I’ve been really hesitant to try the round shape trend because it can be tricky to pull off but when I saw these with the bright pink mirrored lenses I had to try them out. Side note! How cute is this top from Two Arrows Brand? They just started selling in my favorite store, South Moon Under, and I already want everything! They have a very laid back vibe and I’m pretty sure I’ll be living in their clothes all summer.

It’s starting to feel like Spring already and I’m not mad at it! I’m sure we’ll have a few bitter days before the winter really leaves for good but I’ll take it. I can’t wait to swap out my boots and heels for some open toes and gladiator sandals, amiright?

Charlotte is such a ham… True story: we get here to take pictures and she walks about 5 feet away from me and says, “mommy, I’m going to do these by myself, I can pose, ok?” Sticks her leg out, pops her hip and throws a hand up on it, pulls her sunglasses down and makes a pouty face at the camera. I died. She was born for this kind of stuff, haha.

Charlotte’s style is very all her own; she loves to get herself dressed and grabs pieces from all ends of the spectrum. She likes girly little dresses, but lives in her ‘boys’ Nirvana baseball style t-shirt. Things hardly ever match when she dresses herself, which I imagine is the case for most kids. We both loves these pieces. She loved the shiny heart, the way her skirt looked like jean shorts, and she has not taken her leopard print rain boots off since the day they arrived at our house. (It has not rained since then either, ha). She looks so grown up! It makes me a little weepy inside.

Just Fab kids is pretty fabulous, but you know what else I love? The amazing clothes they offer for us ladies! And their shoe collection, oh my! I was like a kid in a candy store browsing their site. I don’t go to school, I don’t even work in an office, so I don’t always have a legit excuse to go shopping for new clothes in bulk, but sometimes I don’t need one… I do what I want!

I call this my “Sandy” dress because it reminds me of Sandy from Grease… or Pretty Woman. Whatever the case, it makes me feel all kinds of saucy! So, ok, maybe I wouldn’t wear this to school or work but whatever it’s fine. It’s more of an after work on a Friday night kinda dress, haha. And these shoes, guys! I have always wanted lace up shoes and these heels are a dream. In true lace up fashion it’s hard to get them to stay up, but I think possibly I wasn’t tying them tight enough. Next time I wear them I’ll give them a tighter wrap around and see how they do or I’ll just wrap them around a little lower and give it a go.
