Life on the Edge

If there’s one thing you might notice from reading my blog, being feminine is not exactly “my thing.” Don’t get me wrong, I love feminine things, but when it comes to my style I’m not the most lady-like girl in the lineup. When I do dabble with the classier things in life I like to stay true to my style and add a little edge by mixing and matching the two components.

This pleated skirt was an instant favorite as soon as I tried it on a few months ago. I had worn it several times over the holiday season but I got the idea to pair it with my favorite muscle tank because it was actually the shirt I tried it on with, ha. I even snap chatted the cute ensemble. …I was having a really amazing hair day that day too… Le sigh. (follow me on snapchat! @ therachelross).

I lived in this Chi Flo tank top last summer and when it started to get too cold to wear it outdoors it became my favorite shirt to wear to the gym. When you’re wearing a shirt with switch blades on it looking super intense while working out it’s a pretty safe bet not many people are going to come and strike up a conversation with you. It’s my version of the “please don’t talk to me” resting bitch face. Anyway! I’m super excited for my girl Christina, the creator of Chi Flo, because she is now going to be selling her brand in the Nylon online store! So be sure to keep an eye out for her because this is definitely not the last time you’ll be seeing her!

Livin Fast, Dyin Last

I am a sucker for key pieces with edgy details. Sometimes I might even throw them all on at once, I can’t help myself. This tank top, with the drop armpits… (is that a thing?) these perforated leather shorts, and these fringy heels… I love them ALL. Throw ’em all together and you have a pretty badass outfit.

Enough sass for ya in one post? ha! I’ve actually been living in this tank top and these shorts separately for most of the summer but then I had the genius idea to pair them together and it seems like a match made in heaven. I actually really love these tank tops to show off little bralettes underneath and my tattoos. These shorts, they are all kinds of amazing. Leather track shorts WITH pockets! Nothing beats it. Unfortunately these have sold out but I linked to my other favorite BMG shorts above. I’ve been living in those this summer as well… seriously.

You Have Been Accepted to Avoiding U

Welcome to Avoiding U! Congratulations on your admittance ;] I love a sassy brand about as much as I love coffee. Or Dawson’s Creek since I publicly announced my love for that show over coffee, which is a lot. Anyway! I love a brand that just embodies attitude and Chi Flo is it!

For whatever reason I am really into wearing billowy crop tops with flowy maxi skirts. They go together like a fine wine and…anything really. Finding a cute crop top with a fun graphic like this is just an added bonus. I had a hard time deciding on something to get from Chi Flo because I really loved everything. So much friggen attitude in everything this girl makes, I love it!

I love the relaxed fit of this top and I have to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised at how soft it was! Sometimes you expect a smaller brand to have lesser quality stuff but not Chi Flo, everything is 100%. They’re soft, comfortable, and don’t shrink! Which is really important to me because I usually find a way to shrink everything, haha. hah, this picture! I was really having a grand ol’ time twirling around in my skirt. I had both girls in the double stroller while taking these pictures and I had to keep making the most insane faces at Kennedy to keep her entertained and happy. I can’t believe we didn’t catch one of them on camera… thank goodness! Actually this last one may have been one of those super mommy moments, but that’s fine.
