NYFW Outfit Recap

I totally planned to have this posted yesterday but I am still suffering from one hell of a fashion week hangover! I decided weeks ago that I was going to attend as much as I possibly could this year and let me tell you, I am paying for it now. Between attending events and working them, I need to nap for the next few days. Alas, I’m recapping what I wore Saturday night & Sunday afternoon to two different events on the blog this week!

Saturday night I had the absolute pleasure of working with Stacy Igel on her fashion week presentation for Boy Meets Girl. Instead of organizing a traditional runway show she opted to host a small party with private performances by different musical artists which was amazing! To show some solidarity I obviously wanted to wear something from my personal BMG collection and I loved the pop of color in the logo. I wanted to add a little edge to the ensemble so I paired it with my faux leather shorts, which I forgot I even owned. UGH. They were stuffed into a drawer and I’ve literally missed out on wearing these all summer so I’m going to try to get a few more wears out of them before I have to throw tights on underneath.

I actually really loved this outfit. I kept it super casual this year for fashion week which is a far cry from literally anything you will see around the streets of NY this time of year, haha! But I’ll talk more about that later this week in my next outfit post. What I love most about Boy Meets Girl is the attitude you see and feel in all of the pieces while still managing to spread an extremely positive message. Stacy herself is a true inspiration as someone who would love to be half the entrepreneur and powerhouse she is someday! The new Boy Meets Girl collection is available for preorder now and I kind of want everrryyything, so check it out here!

Learn to Love Monday.

That’s right, I said it. You can love Monday. Well I mean… if you have a really adorable ‘Monday’ themed t-shirt like this one it really helps.

I’m obsessed with this shirt. I hate Mondays. I love weekends with my family, my hubs, my kids… and by Monday I’m just really sad that the weekend is over. I mean, everyone hates Monday which is why this shirt exists, haha! Thank you Boy Meets Girl for so perfectly capturing the way everyone on the entire planet feels about Monday in just two small words. Wearing this top feels like my personal F U to Monday.

These shoes thouuuuuugh. I am ashamed to admit that I bought them for myself when I was supposed to be out finding shoes for my kids, haha. However! I did grab a pair of sandals for Char but they had ZERO shoes in Kennedy’s size, so it’s not entirely my fault I left with a pair for myself instead. Anyway, I love these sandals. They’re comfortable and edgy, and everything I look for to dress up a casual weekday look.

Girl Meets Boy Meets Girl

You ever find a brand that you just love? It happens every so often, ya know? You find a brand that stands for something amazing and great but still has a fun vibe? When I was introduced to Boy Meets Girl through one of my clients I instantly fell in love with their energy. And I mean, their logo is just adorable isn’t it?

I love to dress some outfits down and others up. This seems to be a good combination of the two. Pairing a full skirt with a simple t-shirt is a good way to dress it down, but the heels dress it right back up. I really couldn’t decide what I wanted that day, ha.

image-22 image-23The coolest thing about this brand, Boy Meets Girl, you can personalize pieces! They’re perfect for brides and weddings and such. It’s too cute! Browse their whole line here  and have some fun with your wardrobe!

Orange you glad I didn’t say it’s freezing?

It seems ironic that I’m posting this today, while we are in the midsts of yet another snow storm. BUT, last week we had some lovely warm weather. If only for one short sunny afternoon. I can still get down with that! There’s something about the sunlight that makes you want to be outside all day or go for a ride with your windows down… nevermind that it’s still only 48 degrees outside, and we’re supposed to get another “Polar Vortex” today… lovely!

This is one of my favorite tops from a small boutique in Red Bank, Dor La Dor. It’s hard to see under the oversized scarf, but it’s a simple long sleeved brownish, tanish, grayish light sweater. It looks great on, even with my growing bump! The fabric is stretchy so I should be able to get a few more wears out of it before I have to retire to maternity clothes full time.IMG_0338

Leather jackets in the middle of January? I don’t hate it. I do not hate it one bit! Throw on a big ol’ scarf, some knee high boots and you’re ready to take on the day! At least I was. I threw my daughter and 2 puppies in the car and headed out for an iced coffee from Starbucks. I miss iced coffee during the winter like it’s my husband who got drafted in the Revolutionary War and never came home. Makes sense, right? Oh and by the way! These are the new puppies!

Hats & Heels

My number one suggestion to pregnant women; embrace your belly! My first pregnancy I really fought buying maternity clothes. It is SO hard to find cute maternity clothes after all, and I was a young mom, I didn’t want to dress like an old maid just yet. But, when I finally caved and bought my first pair of elastic waist jeans I thought I had died and gone to fashion heaven. While they weren’t the most stylish clothes in the world, they were so comfortable it was insane. This time around I decided I was going to splurge a little on some better quality maternity clothes and I can mix and match with the pieces I acquired last time.

IMG_0140 IMG_0139Believe it or not, every single item of clothing pictured here is maternity! I splurged on J Brands from a Pea in the Pod and snagged this sweater on sale because I figured it would look great even when I’m not pregnant. Maternity jeans with elastic where the pockets should be, rather than with the extra stretchy fabric that goes over the bump are great for the beginning of your pregnancy. They’re great for when you really really just cannot squeeze yourself into your regular jeans any longer, no matter how hard you try (I used an elastic band to close my jeans for a long time during my first pregnancy). Your belly is still small enough to not necessarily need all of the extra support and these sit under the bump comfortably.

IMG_0150_2 IMG_0153_2 IMG_0154 IMG_0157 IMG_0163I’m sporting another new baby here, Chanel. A birthday & Christmas present from the hubs. I was sooooo against having a white bag for a long time, especially a Chanel, because I know how dirty they can get. However, when my husband took me to the store and told me to pick one out, I instantly gravitated towards the white one. (After, of course, I picked out a 29 THOUSAND dollar red alligator skin flap bag… whoops…maybe next year, right babe? HA). It looked so pretty with what I was wearing at the time and all I could think of was how amazing it will look in the winter AND the summer. Had to have it.

A lot of older women, or women who have never been pregnant, find it crazy that women like me wear heels throughout my pregnancy. However, let me just say two things. 1. I will never ever give up my heels, ever. I don’t walk around in 6 inch Louboutins every day, but if I am going somewhere where I have to dress up, 9 months pregnant or not, I’m throwing on SOME variation of heels. And 2. Sometimes pregnancy can take a toll on your lower back and believe it or not, the extra support heels can give makes a crazy difference. If you’re feet don’t swell like Kim K’s (that chick should not have been in heels as long as she was) they can actually be much more comfortable than flats! Espadrilles in the summer are a god send! IMG_0182_2

I have a video on my YouTube channel about the do’s & don’ts of shopping for maternity clothes & I’ll share that with ya’ll tomorrow! This time around I’m definitely taking my own advice, and hopefully it can help some of my readers out as well! Until next time, kisses!
