Accessories can seriously change your entire world. Well ok, maybe not your entire world, that’s a tad dramatic, but definitely your look! Don’t believe me? Just take a gander at the evidence below!
Here is a maternity dress I purchased from ASOS, sans any real accessories. The dress itself looks like a moomoo. Actually, that’s what my husband & in-law’s referred to it as when I wore it for a belated Mother’s Day dinner and took off one key accessory, a belt. I suppose it didn’t help that I wandered around my house in slippers as well. I was days away from giving birth, comfort was my #1 priority, ok!? hah
This dress is so cute by itself, the color and the print alone helps it stand its ground, but it is pretty ill fitting. It basically has no shape. It’s amazingly comfortable, which at 39 weeks is what you want, but if you’re wearing it out of the house, as I did, you want to add some flair. The key here is in the accessories. Watch & learn.
DRESS: ASOS (similar here) || WEDGES: STEVE MADDEN || SANDALS: TARGET || BELT: FOREVER21 || NECKLACE: H&M (similar here) || SHADES: RAY BAN || LIPSTICK: ‘SCHIAP’ NARS || WATCH: MICHELE
The belt around your waist (above my bump) is so key for this look! It gives you shape so you don’t look like a walking hot air balloon. I threw on some wedges here instead of the sandals to elongate my legs. When you’re pregnant everything makes you feel larger, so a little lift with your footwear makes for a great boost in both height and confidence as it gives the illusion of longer legs. I added a statement necklace to pull in the color from the belt and my lipstick.
And last but not least, my blue Ray Bans, because I’m addicted to them. I actually went out and bought myself an early push present, black mirrored Ray Ban aviators. I am well aware I have an addiction to Ray Ban aviators. I’m ok with it. There are worse things to be addicted to…. right?! So there you have it, ladies. The proof that adding just a few key accessories can take your look from drab to seriously fab!
Love this! That dress is so adorable, and you’re absolutely right- the accessories make all the difference in the world. Now that you’ve had Kennedy, I’m kind of sad that we won’t get to see your amazing, amazing maternity style anymore! (Looking forward to some very chic baby style posts, though!!) 🙂 x S
Haha aw thanks girl! 🙂 🙂 I still have a couple maternity outfit posts coming (I stocked up!) but I’m going to miss it too! I’m losing my niche haha
