This is the perfect little treat to make for your Valentine if you’re doing dinner at home tonight.
They’re heart shaped sugar cubes! Adorable right? They’re super easy to make, so let’s get started!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Sugar (obviously), red food coloring, a small mixing bowl, heart shaped cut outs. This also works really well if you can find heart shaped ice cube trays. I couldn’t find any in stores but Amazon had a ton. I went with heart-shaped fondant cut outs, which work just as well, and you can find them at pretty much any craft store. I got mine at AC Moore.
Step 1: Pour some of the sugar in a small little mixing bowl and add a few drops of the red food coloring. You can make a few batches with more or less food coloring to make some cubes more pink and some more red. Mix the sugar and food coloring well because it will start to clump once you add the color.

Step 2: Add about a teaspoon of water to the sugar and mix well.
Step 3: Pour the sugar out onto a plate and cut out some hearts as if you’re using cookie cutters. Gently tap them out onto another plate. Some of them will fall apart and break, but that’s ok.
Step 4: Pop them in the freezer for a few hours. When they are finished and ready to go, just flip them over so the smooth and even part is now on the top.
If you’re making a nice, romantic, home made dinner for two, this will top off your dessert and really finish setting the tone for a romantic night!
Try these out today and let me know what your sweetheart thinks of their sweets! ;] Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers!
